The experience at this restaurant was absolutely unpleasant today. My husband and I came down to NC to visit some family and since I am 3 Months post-partum they told us to go out on a date brunch and spend some one on one quality time. So we had very limited time. Upon arriving to this restaurant we walk in, notice that it's only a carry out resturant. We wanted to dine in but figured we would just take it to go. As we are looking at the menu the lady at the counter says that there is a 45 minute wait and they had run out of various items that were on the menu. So this being said my husband and I had a very limited time frame and could not wait. As we turn around and are exiting the restaurant the lady at the front of the restaurant behind the counter who was updating guests of the 45 minute wait and listing of items they didn't have in stock about yells out as my back is turned that "you all don't want to support black owned business." This is totally absurd I didn't even react and just walked out. First off I don't care who owns the business, I don't research that, I go into a place that has good food and what was recommended by other's. We were judged immediately as we walked in which is so wrong on so many levels. Please think twice before you judge your customers who are coming in, and wanting to actually eat good food.

I am a new resident to Wilmington moving here from Memphis. Since moving, I've struggled to find local eateries (black owned or otherwise) that served the quality of food I'm use to. Then, I happened upon Brunch Thyme. IMO, this place is the BEST EATERY in all of NC. The bridge detour takes me right by there and it's hard not to stop everyday. GREAT FOOD!!!

What can I say about this spot that already hasn't been said? Let me start at the top! The owner and his wife have been a part of our community for a long time and take great pride in providing a great product at a great value. Corey Scott is just an all around fantastic human committed to making Wilmington a better place one bite at a time. Ok, the food. Today I had the HUGE bacon (crisp, not greasy), egg (perfectly fried) and biscuit (today I cut it in half and I have lunch for later it is that big!). The fried bologna is still one of my favorites...again, large enough for two meals. Don't sleep on the French Toast! I look forward to working my way through the menu for sure. One more compliment...when you walk in the door you are greeted by workers and customers alike. It is like a great little family owned corner restaurant where everyone feels welcome and appreciated. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! Looking forward to my next trip after just finishing breakfast, haha!

The food, service, and atmosphere is great. Brunch Thyme exceeded my expectations. I will definitely continue supporting this business.

Popped in while strolling around downtown Wilmington. Area was pretty desolate and it’s hard to see how a business in this location can thrive. But, be that as it may, had an iced coffee, it was meh, and the glazed donut was just okay because it was dry. Staff was very friendly and the establishment was neat as a pin, but, again, it wasn’t great and I’d probably pass on every going again but places like this tend to be hit or miss so my experience doesn’t necessarily mean anything in particular.

We highly recommend the Brooklyn Cafe! The staff were super friendly and the coffee, smoothie and homemade donuts were fabulous too!

I popped into this hidden gem in between a nearby wedding and reception, simply looking for the pick-me-up of a cup of coffee. Instead I ended up with coffee, beignets, and a cinnamon sugar donut. The shop had plenty of space to spread out and relax, with newspapers and even board games making it someplace you felt welcome to stay. The woman working was welcoming, pleasant, and quick. She had fresh beignets made for me in under 5 minutes (and I swear there were more in the basket than she said would be!). When I ran short on time and had to leave, she had my items boxed quickly. The coffee did the job, but the beignets were the real pick-me-up I didn't know I needed! The donut kept well until coffee the next morning and was light and fluffy despite being a traditional cake donut. With all the coffee shops on Front Street and 2nd in Wilmington, I'm glad I stumbled onto this one a few blocks back from the river!

I visited Brooklyn Cafe today for with my parents. The woman working was especially friendly and gave us some background on the resturant. We got one order of vegan bingets and one order or regular bingets as well as an old fashioned doughnut. Everyone was exceptionally happy!

O.K...the beignets are above average BUT they’re expensive for what you get, BUT they are handmade and where else are you going to find very good handmade beignets on the NC coast? Other than bagels and cream cheese I don’t know what else they serve -or any other “breakfast “ food. I am not sure so please check. In a very old building, downtown, safe area, we found parking right in front, handicap accessible ramp...look carefully for address. Very friendly owners made us feel welcome - Very Clean - we will go back just for the beignets!
