I sometimes get supermarket sushi as Genki is not real close to me. I used to appreciate it was “just supermarket sushi” but after Genki (10-12 times) it’s real hard to get a quick supermarket fix. Actually right now I’m salivating!”

I came there around 1:00 PM. There were lots of Customers there. So, I had to wait 20 Minutes to get a Table, not too bad of a Wait. The Employees were Super Nice & Friendly. The Food was Excellent! I would also like to say the Tres Leches Pancakes could use a little bit more Tres Leches, but it was Great! The Mimosas were Great! Great Customer Service, & No Communication Barrier. We ordered ahead and drove 30 minutes for: Cheese and pepperoni Mac and cheese Chicken bacon ranch Cinnamon Loaded baked potato The order was ready when I got there and smelled AMAZING. The outside of the pretzel looked great and when you broke into it, they loaded each pretzel with what we ordered. The only issue I had, 3/5 pretzels were not cooked thoroughly and were pretty doughy. May have just been an off day, but def worth trying.”

“I came here for the first time today with my husband and two friends. The parking lot was absolutely packed and is not well-maintained so that was immediately a challenge. When we got inside, the line wasn't terrible, and our friends had snagged a table. Otherwise, there was nowhere to sit. The staff were all very nice and definitely working hard. We were able to order quickly, and our food came out pretty quickly. I had the toasted egg wrap which was tasty but was literally half the size of what I would have expected. My husband had the breakfast burrito which he'd been told was huge, but it turned out to be a very small burrito. The food was tasty, but based on the size and cost, we won't be back. There are tons of other amazing breakfast places in Wilmington.”

“From Waianae Hawai’i, kanaka born and raised and been in Wilmington about a month or two. They musubi was kinda small compared to normal musubi’s but was good 😊, tried the Lava flow which was supposed to be like the spicy ahi poke was didn’t get the habanero stuff but got everything else. Tasted FRESHHHHHH which is very hard apparently for other places around here! So that’s a big winnahz!!!! FRESHHHHHH FISH!!!!! besides the adding of the eal sauce it tasted just like the regular spicy ahi poke you would get from Foodland back home. Or actually no it’s Tamura’s quality and if you know they got the best!!! So that’s says a lot. The furikake had a bit too much sesame for me but you know how they do. They are limited on the aloha juices but they got the good ones. They get hawai’i kine beer too. But overall was nice and good food, the dude that makes the stuff is nice he showed me the ahi and answered any question I had bc when you first see the menu it is VERY CONFUSING….. it’s not like back home at all. Very different but once explained you’ll get it! Nice ppl and Onolicious food! Not bad on pricing for da bowl either was normal size! Not much Hawaiian quality food this way or kanaka ran places but this one is good! 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾 and they got merch too! Not like haole style food it’s kanaka style!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥”

This place has been on our to try list for a while now and we finally had the opportunity. What an incredible experience! The food was outstanding! The flavor was on point and the servings were huge! My wife and I each had an amazing pasta dish and split the largest piece of coconut cake we have ever seen. Now, you would think after all that I just wrote that would be the best part of our experience, but it wasn’t! The absolute best part was one of the kindest people we have ever met, Bella! “I don’t usually leave reviews but they totally deserve one! We left the movies and my parents said “where are we having lunch?”. I said “right here! I looked at their menu during the movie”. Coquina did NOT disappoint. The “co’jito” and “café con leche” cocktails were perfection. The conch fritters were fantastic. In fact, we were shocked how many fritters come with the order and the size of them. Most restaurants we’ve been to that offered conch fritters come with (maybe) five fritters and always far smaller in size. And the actual amount of conch and size of the pieces: amazing. It was so nice to actually taste conch and not just breading/filler! And then the Cuban sandwich….. OMG….. My father and I always order a Cuban sandwich and judge a restaurant based on it if it’s on their menu. We both agreed that this was probably the best Cuban sandwich we’ve ever had! Normally I’m the type of guy who wants extremely sweet tea, but I actually appreciated that their tea was more tea than sugar. It was almost as if they were saying “settle down sir, this is a proper establishment!” I wish I took a picture of the omelette my wife got because it looked like something out of a Studio Ghibli film. Perfectly cooked and it tasted great. Don’t sleep on this place! It’s so affordable and the brunch is among the best in Wilmington. “The German Cafe is located on the lower level of the Cotton Exchange in Downtown Wilmington, NC. There is a parking lot, and they do validate parking.
The restaurant opened back in 1985 and has been open ever since. The historic building and German theme add to the experience. The restaurant has seating on three levels, with a bar and some tables when you walk in, and two smaller dining areas on the other levels. The staff even dress in traditional attire.
The architecture itself is incredible, showcasing the original 40-foot hand-carved pine beams from the 1860s cotton warehouse. Even the foundational stones holding up the restaurant space are repurposed from old ship ballast stones left behind at the 19th-century port by passing trade vessels! I chose to sit on the middle level because it was decorated with beautiful cuckoo clocks, which fondly reminded me of my own trip to Germany's Black Forest region and of visiting a clock factory there, where I saw the massive cuckoo clocks.
For my meal, I ordered the pork schnitzel, which came served with warm German potato salad, sweet red cabbage, and a crisp cucumber salad. The pork schnitzel was cooked absolutely perfectly and tasted so good. I knew German potato salad was traditionally served warm, but I wasn't quite expecting the strong tang of the vinegar, though I thoroughly enjoyed the cabbage and cucumbers. To finish the meal, I debated between the German chocolate cake and the apple strudel. I ultimately chose the strudel for a more authentic experience, as German chocolate cake is actually an American creation rather than a traditional German one. The strudel arrived warm and was incredibly tasty!”
