“I tried Brent’s Bistro on 3/3/24. I did not have reservations, and I was sat immediately. I may have got lucky, so it is probably a good idea to make a reservation. We started with the crab dip. It was fantastic. It was loaded with crab with a lovely browned cheese topped with diced tomatoes and chives. Most crab dips that I try are loaded with mayo and not crab. Not this one. This is crab-forward and the best I have ever had. After the crab dip, we tried some salads. We ordered the house salad and the sweet pea salad. Both were excellent. I got ranch dressing with the house salad. It was homemade dressing. For our main dishes, we ordered the unique Grilled Mahi w/a honey almond basil pesto rub Served over Spinach risotto, Finished bruschetta tomatoes & balsamic, and the *Salmon Piccata: Sauteed salmon topped with a classic lemon caper sauce served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Both dishes were fantastic. I do have to say that the risotto that came with the special was undercooked. Still, they handled it very well by immediately replacing it with some of the best mashed potatoes I have ever had, so I did not ding them on the stars because it is undeniable their food is five stars. A note for wine drinkers is at least for our first visit, the amount they pour for a glass is very generous. As mentioned, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was very nice and pleasant. This is a must-try if you visit or Live in the area.Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian options.Parking: They have a free parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: This is a wheelchair-friendly restaurant“
“Great bar. Wonderful bartender. Knowledgeable, and insightful with the bourbons, which are plentiful, on hand. The best burger I've had in Wilmington. Double smash. Not to be missed. Looking forward to an opportunity to go back and trying more of the bourbons. Oh, the place was mostly empty. Kind of shocking considering the service and the decor, layout of the place. Place. It's got everything going for it except people.“
“This is my new favorite in Wilmington! We did the chefs tasting menu and were so impressed. It was a ton of food and we got to try so many different options. Everything we tried was insanely delicious. We just moved from San Francisco and this food is seriously just as good as any upscale restaurant in SF. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. They are able to accommodate gluten free and modified several dishes. Definitely will be back!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free friendly“
“Absolutely fantastic. The shrimp tacos with grit cake and chimichurri sauce were divine! Another patron told us get extra sauce, and he was spot on!! The service was amazing and it was PACKED, and our server was the bar tender BUT WE HAD the most wonderful experience. Wish I knew about this place sooner.“
“This is my fave restaurant for a special night out in Wilmington, so when it came to choosing where to have my birthday dinner, it was a no brainer. An hour before the reservation, my babysitter had to cancel suddenly. I called the restaurant to ensure it was ok if my 2 year old joined and they assured me it was. I cannot stress enough how WONDERFUL the staff and chef were- even making himButtered noodles and giving him a condiment cup of his favorite - cherries! I was so stressed going into it but had no reason to be at all! Insanely good food and the kindest ppl. Thank you all so much.“
“I love that the first thing the staff does when you go to the counter is provide you a beverage. Tried both burger and the PT DOG. Both made to order, fresh and fantastic. Had the cheeseburger, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, slaw and chili. Just as good as the mains are the fresh cut fries. Outstanding!“
“What a fun dining experience! We met up with friends and had a table reserved in the bar. The bartenders waited on us; they were knowledgeable, personable, professional, and did a wonderful job reading the table to make it a lovely evening. The specialty drink list was a bit bourbon-heavy, but they had a very good selection of liquors and wines as options. I enjoyed my rose and the others did their cocktails, as well. The food menu is split into small and large plates. Though in general the portions were on the smaller side, the food was so flavorful and satisfying that one choice from each of the two sizes was enough for each couple to share.I did not explore the whole restaurant, but it apparently has several smaller (private?) dining rooms, in addition to tables around the bar area and several outdoor tables. We had a great experience and look forward to visiting again.“
“After living here for years, my wife and I discovered this jewel of a restaurant. A great menu of fresh prepared daily options. To begin we enjoyed their chips & guac with queso, followed by a chopped house salad (wife) and a Caesar for me, then the short rib dinner. Everything was absolutely delicious, and plentiful. Sean Michael served us, and was able to give thoughtful insight on the dishes and the background of the restaurant, most helpful to a first (but not last) visit. The atmosphere was a bit ‘industrial’ in the downstairs dinning (they also have a rooftop outdoor dinning area), and we got there during happy hour, so it was a little loud (but this calmed down as we ate). Again, the food is fantastic! I would caution though (as Sean did before I ordered) the Ceasar salad is very intense with anchovy. Had I not been warned I would have sent it back, but I had been warned, and now so have you. Looking forward to our next visit, this time hopefully leaving room for dessert!“
“What a fun day! We used the parking lot and one we had that parking app downloaded, off we went! It was just a short walk over to this historical restaurant with the most beautiful old real wooden floors and we got a great booth! It wasn't busy for lunch and the waiter was wonderfully friendly! Hubby tried the BBQ Clam Chowder and it was loaded with clams with just a hint of bbq in a delicious homemade cream based sauce not too thick at all! He also got the burger cooked perfectly and I got the linguini and calamari! I'm Still thinking about what a great day it was as we left and car toured the old huge historical beautiful buildings down the block before leaving Wilmington! Not too far from MB and a refreshing change from Charleston, but with a lot of similar good vibes!“
“The cafe is part of the art museum and what a treat it was for our visit. There was a large party of lovely ladies speaking French, a smattering of children visiting with their mothers, and a few other visitors such as ourselves enjoying the lovely fall Wilmington weather and the lunch fare available. You really must go if you are in the Wilmington area. It is a wonderful experience for young and old alike.“
“Great little place for lunch, breakfast or brunch. Everything is great and the employees are amazing. Bread pudding is A-Mazing! Make sure you try this place while you are in the port city. There is a cool record place across the street and and awesome thrift shop.“
“Imagine the best meal you’ve ever had prior to coming here, now be ready for that to be your second best meal after eating here. Never been until today and I’m ready for the next time. Meatloaf sandwich and hilly hash bowl were incredible. Highly recommend.“
“Cool spot. You can grab a seat in the Alcove brewery area and order food next door and they bring it to you. I ordered a beer and got my food. Everything was amazing. Only issue is the service was minimal. I had to go back and ask for cutlery and wave to get my check for my one beer, while only 2 others at the bar. We all have off days in the service Industry though. Can't wait to revisit.“
“I have unfortunately been blessed with several severe food allergies. The chef created a meal for me from scratch that was out of this world and had all my friends wanting my food. The food had so much flavor and the BBQ sauce is crazy good. I have been to many restaurants that just say, "Sorry, we do not have anything for you". But not here... amazing food, great atmosphere and one phenomenal chef!!! Thank you for an amazing meal!!!“
“This is a strange review. Why? The overall rating is higher than the individual segment. Why? The beef tartare! The STAR of the night. The lemon puree brightened the dish and married the flavors of the pickled fennel, black garlic aioli, capers, and smoked trout roe. The beet tartare was also a treat. The candied pecans played well with dill sour cream and apple vinaigrette the mustard and capers brought a briny flavor that leveled out the sweet notes, but the smoked goat cheese brought them all together. The oysters were interesting, with vodka sauce parmesan bread crumb. The Blackened Shrimp & Grit Grits lead creamy stone ground grits. The seared greens tasted as though they were blanched before they were seared. The ratio of celery root and sunchokes to shrimp was more on the veggies side. I ordered a side of black eyed peas and collards. The collards were cooked well. I like a more vinegary collard. There was a sweetness that looked to level off the vinegar taste. The sweet was a little much for me. The black eyed peas were fresh and bright. I like mine cooked a little longer, but you could taste the farm to table on these. The sides came out at the end of completing my entree, which was not ideal. The server seemed nervous at the beginning of the service. Warmed up towards the middle and got swamped with tables at the end of our service. My wife had the pork chop, i didn’t try it. I knew better. She didn’t offer like she usually does? The seating was tighter than my liking, but the parties closest were very considerate, we all keep or volume down.Vegetarian options: Lions mane steak & beet tarts, butternut hummus“
“What an amazing space to come watch a game or see the locals playing volleyball out the garage doors. Captain Bills has really out done themselves on their take on a taproom. If Scarlett is your bartender, mention that you saw this post & you’ll have a great night! 10/10 recommend anything with the Bills name on it. “
“I had a coconut rice bowl with salmon, and it was fantastic. We sat outside with the heater on it was nice. Everyone enjoyed their meal, even the picky 6 yr old. Drinks were amazing. The service was very friendly. Would love to come back and sit on the comfy couch with a fire “
“We eat here at least once a week. This Waffle House has always been good, but it is now better. Not sure why, but it’s our local WH, so that’s good news for us. Our waitress Kristen was VERY nice, polite, diligent, and generally fantastic at her job. They are normally pretty good, but she’s our favorite.“
“This was our first time eating here and it did not disappoint. The food was really good, and we are food snobs ?. The filet was cooked perfectly, burger was juicy and full of flavor, the fries were by far the best fries I’ve ever had and I can’t even begin to describe the crème brûlée, just amazing!!!Our server Carson was just as great. He was kind, answered all our questions and never rushed us. Top notch. We will definitely be coming back to this place, I can’t believe we waited so long with it just being right around the corner!Keep it up guys and thank you for opening a great neighborhood family restaurant!!“
“This restaurant is beautiful and has an incredible menu. Chandler was an awesome bar tender, so knowledgeable and caring! Highly recommend this spot and incredible service!!UPDATE: I came back for brunch and could not have had a better experience! The food selection is incredible and the mimosa flight was so much fun. Sam and Josh are fantastic bartenders and made the trip that much better!“
“Diane and I went out for dinner in recent weeks and I have to say it was a truly unique wonderful experience. The service and food was spectacular, so much so that I didn’t think about how expensive the meal was. I think the company helped soften the blow. Anyone looking for the best filet mignon in town town this is the place to go true blue butcher and barrel is a lot more intimate than the setting at Butcher and Block. I’ll have to go next Wednesday for the five dollar Smashburger as I heard it is incredible and at that price why not buy a few other sides“
“If you would like overpriced seafood, sure. We came on valentines day and I tried my boyfriend's salmon. It had no flavor and seemed a bit undercooked, the mashed potatoes were bland. I got the seafood pasta and it was pretty good. But these are small portions for a big price.“
“What a great location! We sat inside because it was a bit chilly but still had views of the river. I love that it was right on the boardwalk. The staff was attentive and energetic. Food was delicious! For apps we had Brussels sprouts, Bree, crab cakes, and fried oysters. I'm not the biggest fan of Brussel sprouts but they were so crispy and savory. The rest of the apps were also perfection! I have the beets and goat cheese salad with fried oysters. I can't remember what sauce was on the salad but wow! They did a great job. I ended the experience with a crème brûlée. It was savory and soft. I recommend checking them out. No one at the table had complaints.“
“Hannah N. gave us incredible service. She was one of the best servers we’ve ever had. The food was delicious as well. Jeremy the Manager was super kind and gave us a warm welcome. I highly recommend Wrightsville Beach Brewery. Oh, I can’t forget the beer…quality for sure.“
