We have been enjoying Cape Fear Rum Cakes for years. They are downtown Wilmington on N. Front Street. We keep them on hand as a ready made dessert (the rum keeps them fresh for 6 months. They come in three sizes, small, medium and large. We serve them to guests and we give them for gifts, especially around Christmas time. If you like cake and you like rum, you can't beat this combination. TWO THUMBS UP!

So good! Popped in a couple Sundays ago for the first time after someone brought me a gluten free cake from there some time ago. I got the gluten free Funfefti, several vanilla original and a seasonal chocolate chip banana. I am so excited to go back to Wilmington this week and try the new seasonal fall flavors and will be dreaming of the chocolate chip banana until next summer. The Funfetti was so good we are getting two so we have one to freeze. The gluten free is every bit as good as the original. And let it be noted: I hate rum cake as a general rule but LOVE these! The little ones make such perfect gifts and the staff was so friendly. Not hard to find parking but you may have to walk a block or two but totally worth it! Can’t rave about this place enough!

Crazy good. The best gluten free baked good I've had in years. I love that they have so many delicious flavors. Brought the regular ones home for family and they were a huge hit! Friendly service too

A few years ago a coworker of mine who has a 2nd home in NC recommended this place when I was trying to come up with a new idea for a Mother's Day gift. I placed an order online and had it shipped to my Mom in TX. She loves these cakes. Every year she asks for them now,lol. Great gift idea! Plus they have gift bag options and bows. Nice touch.

We just tried a few rum cakes from here yesterday and I don't see the appeal. All the cakes are pre-boxed with no way to sample or see what you are getting. We bought three small cakes to take home and try. My wife and I tried two of them and while not terrible, we didn't really care for them. The coconut was almost bitter tasting with no coconut flavor and had a few nuts baked in which I didn't know it had. I actually prefer the Tortuga brand pre-packaged cakes you can find at most gift shops. The service was just okay. The guy wasn't really friendly or eager to help us but he wasn't rude either. Just kind of neutral, ho-hum attitude.
