Genki Japanese & Sushi Restaurant of Wilmington NC

Brought my sushi loving family to Genki for the first time (I'm a local regular). They loved it! I, and now they, highly recommend this awesome locally owned restaurant!

It was a Very busy night out table was ready on time when we got there. The food is extraordinary the details to the presentation are amazing. The quality, texture and taste of the seafood is outstanding. Even with a full restaurant the service was very friendly and attentive. This was our first time eating there but for sure we will be returning for more time to enjoy this restaurant again.

The food is always amazing, that's why we go. When we got there it was very hot in the restaurant, I had to take off my outer sweater (it was cold outside). Then the air conditioner kicked on and it was so cold that I put it back on and my guest had to put their jacket on. We prefer to sit at the bar, we like to watch the chef make the sushi, but even though there were open spaces at their bar, we were seated at a small table.

After eating here, it's apparent that the sushi you've had in the past just can't measure up to Genki. I'm not sure how they do it, but their sushi always seems to melt in your mouth. Fresh, fresh and extremely tasty every time we come here.

I've been to Genki a handful of times and it never disappoints! My favorite sushi restaurant in the ILM/Wilmington area!

Great meal, but the premixed wasabi paste was a letdown. I would have given them 5 stars if they used the real, freshly grated root.

Chef Danny really outdid himself and they were even able to accommodate my wife's gluten allergies 🙌 They whipped up a gluten free spicy mayo and had several gluten free options to choose from and made modifications to her favorite rolls. Thank y'all again for a fantastic dinner!
*Special Shout out to our waitress Chloe who was out of this world knowledgeable about gluten allergies! She was top notch!

Date night at my favorite sushi spot. The sushi is mid. There are ones that are not worth to be on special menu. The rolls are made poorly so it falls out. The special roles are worse in taste than regular roles. Would recommend skipping this place. Sushi prices are high end and taste is on opposite end. Anyways making sushi at home would roughly equal to the special sushi here.

We travel from Fayetteville to eat the freshest sashimi Chef Danny has to offer. The staff is AWESOME! Everyone helps each other even though that is not their table. Everyone is friendly & moves with a purpose, from greeting the customer, bringing the towels to wipe your hands, bringing the food & drinks, to cleaning up the tables. The hostess, Lana is the best I have met at any restaurant! If there is a hiccup or no reservations at dinner, she handles the situation with professional respect that makes you want to make a reservation the next day!

I really delicious food.
My rice was swimming in teriyaki sauce but I added some more rice to it the next day and it was just as good!
My wife liked the katsudon as well, though I will say both meats were a little on the dry side but still full of flavor!

We wanted Sushi and the search took us to Genki and we couldn't be happier! Chef Dan is so talented in what he does and putting all the right flavors together for that magical taste! He even makes his own soy sauce (we bought a pint). Arigato!

Really good! great service everyone really nice thats working there..
The one complaint i have is the Toro was not worth it at all..(just my opinon) it is a pricy place but very good and I will be going back.
