This was delicious and the fresh catches were wonderful. There was a lot of variety on the menu! Fast service and fresh.

We've eaten there a number of times and the food and presentations were very good. Last night was just mediocre, cheese biscuits were greasy.

Just a great neighborhood seafood place with a varied menu, friendly staff and excellently prepared dishes. Hieronymus was first restaurant I went to coming to Wilmington in early 1990's and it's still going strong due to consistent quality of food and service. The crab dip and grouper prepared two different ways were both excellent. Our server β€œNola” was awesome. A fairly busy evening, she never rushed us and kept checking in with a smile. Hieronymus definitely a place to visit in Wilmington.

Service, food = IMPECCABLE. I have to admit I was a little worried when I pulled up beside the Waffle House but, my concerns were soon resolved. The food, service, and experience was wonderful!

Wow! Great choice! The food was delicious & the portions were large. $24 for a DOZEN oysters that were huge: excellent price in today's market. Highly recommend!

Fried shrimp and oysters, grits with lobster cream......absolutely delicious. Wish I lived closer-Kansas City is a bit of a hike!

While we have really enjoyed the restaurant in the past, the quantity and quality of food has changed significantly in the past several months. our waiter Matt is always attentive but on FRI night there was apparently a large party in the separate room which required additional staffing. I dont think management properly prepared for this as the main dining room did see delays from cocktails thru meal. Believe the kitchen and bar were over worked and needed extra hands on deck. Also, fish was much thinner pieces than in the past. Appetizers & soup were delicious. Just not as top notch as it has been in the past year

This place is an institution with a well deserved reputation. Have not been disappointed anytime we have been here. While the restaurant will not win any interior design awards, it is comfortable and well laid out. The star here is the fresh fish. Today's available catch is listed on the blackboard and you can have it prepared one of 5 different ways. At our table, there was a choice of red drum and sheepshead, one done Carolina style and the other Lemon Buttered Capers. They did not disappoint. A couple of glasses of white wine (below $10 not found very often) and a very filling meal. Oh, and you receive complimentary biscuits that arrive hot and fluffy.

Tonight was a busy because of Azalea festival new clients but we were treated to the excellent service and food respect as locals ! Lila our server was great even when busy and deserves credit for us being very happy!

The portions were very small A meal without drinks for two was $80 Welcome to restaurant dining in 2025

Service was good but the food (scallops)was overly seasoned with some sort of spices, you couldn't even tell that it was a scallop and filet mignon was like a tough chuck roast. Overall very poor quality when it came to the food. We will not go back and do not recommend it

We had the oysters on the half shell and steamed class to start. They were delicious and fresh. I had the fried oysters with grits and lobster sauce, and my husband had the scallops and fries. The entrees weren't fancy or overdressed. They were just delicious. We were very pleased with the meal. The only complaint was it seemed like they were short staffed, so the service was slow. The server was very sweet and did a great job, even with an overwhelming amount of tables. We will definitely be coming here again when we visit Wilmington.
