We regretfully cannot recommend this venue for any special event, particularly a wedding reception. From the time we booked until the actual day of our event, there was a severe lack of communication from the venue. Questions often went unanswered, and we had to follow up repeatedly to get basic information or confirmation. Days to weeks would go by without getting a response and our final details meeting was missed to which we did not get any sort of response back until 10 hours after the fact.
The most disappointing part of our experience, however, was the behavior of the bartending staff. Despite having paid for an open bar with full service, the bartenders were not prepared when guests arrived—20 minutes into the reception, they were still telling people they weren’t ready to serve. Guests were told they couldn’t order drinks or access the full bar we paid for. One bartender (Olivia) even responded to a simple question about where the beer menu was with, “somewhere over the rainbow,” offering no help beyond that.
Numerous guests commented on the rude behavior and unprofessionalism of the bartenders, with some even questioning if they were under the influence. Their behavior—cuddling and kissing behind the bar, vaping in full view, and openly discussing doing drugs before the event—was shocking and unacceptable. One bartender admitted she didn’t even work at the venue and was just helping her girlfriend. This bartender was actually the best and nicest one we had for our event.
To make matters worse, they asked guests if they could eat from the reception buffet without asking us, the hosts. We were also told that the bar wasn’t properly stocked, despite the venue knowing in advance about our open bar arrangement. Guests were denied beer service on the second floor with no explanation.
What should have been a joyful, seamless celebration was marred by poor management and incredibly unprofessional service. We hope others take this experience into account before booking this venue.

We hosted my son and daughter-in-law’s rehearsal dinner this past weekend and everything was a breeze! They had the layout exactly as we asked and everything was ready to go for us to decorate! Greg was happy to let us drop things off early and even accommodated a two-day after pick up of our decorations so we could enjoy the weekend celebrating with our loved ones. Our bartender was lovely, personable, and put my mind at ease. Thank you!

The brew master at ironclad is definitely a master we enjoyed everything we had. Unfortunately when we checked out I gave the bartender a 50 and only received change for a 20 on a 11.98 bill. I let the bartender know of her mistake and she instantly became defensive and said I don’t even have a 50 in my drawer. I’m guessing she already stuck it in her pocket. At this point it was my word against hers and she obviously needed the money more than I did. There wasn’t a single soul in the bar other than me and my wife so I guess she was trying to make up for lost wages. Very nice bartender just sticky fingers beware

We had a great experience at Ironclad! Went here a few weeks ago for a mom and daughter trip. Jasper the bartender was fantastic! She was helpful, knowledgeable and even took time to give us a specific recommendations for the rest of our trip. We brought the pups and they were warmly welcomed. Would highly recommend stopping into Ironclad to see Jasper and have a few beers when in Wilmington!
