J. Michael's Philly Deli

It’s not the same as it used to be they change the bread they use to use It’s not even close to as good as it used to be the bread taste stale and hard.

This place has been around since I was in college at UNC-Wilmington 30+ years ago and the cheesesteaks are still the best in the state of North Carolina! Fast service and affordable with economy changing prices at other places to eat.

A friend picked me up a cheesesteak and cheese fries today and I was very disappointed In comparison to my September of 2024 visit . The rolls, flavor of meat and the fries were all different and tasted different Go back to what you had pleased. You use to be my go to place for a cheesesteak closest to back home but not any more

I’m from the Philly area, so after moving to Wilmington l finally found this place. And naturally I had to have a cheesesteak. I got mine “wit out” (aka no onions) and with provolone cheese. I can honestly say it’s the closest thing to a cheesesteak you’ll find down here. It’s not a 100%, but close. The Amoroso rolls are not a true Italian roll, but again it’s the best you can get down here. I had a second one a few days later with green peppers and onions, but l really didn’t notice a difference. I think next time l would skip them and save the money. I can recommend this place.

I will never eat from this roach infested place again.. mind you I’m not making this review because the place has roaches out the you know what. I’m making this review because they can’t seem to keep their word when it comes to remaking ordered they messed up !! I’m so tired of this place; THE OWNER NEEDS A NEED POLICY FOR ORDERS MESSED UP BY THE KITCHEN. If I’m at work how am I supposed to come back and get my food ??!! I hope this place go out of business for playing with peoples money, food and time!!! ILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!! How hard is it to make a damn sandwich 😒…now hang up on this Google review !!!

I love eating at this place! Their food is amazing, and their staff is extremely kind and attentive. I have almost never had any issues with my order, and the very, VERY few times I have had an issue, they immediately corrected the problem and made it right.
I HIGHLY recommend eating here if you haven't before. Definitely try the cheese steak and get extra ranch. They make their ranch in-house, and it is the best I have had in a long time. My husband will literally drink it when we are done with our meal. LOL 😆

Been going to J.Michaels for 35 years and have always loved its simplicity. Miss the giant big screen hanging from chains that seemed like it would skwosh a family if it fell. I get inflation has been a really issue for most Americans, but $35 for two cheese steaks and a fried mushroom seems a bit egregious. Not sure I'll be back except on the special occasions I crave comfort food from my chilhood...

Absolute best philly cheesesteak you will ever get in your life!!! And the fried mushrooms 👨‍🍳😘!!! I would definitely implore you if you're going to Wilmington North Carolina make a stop at j Michaels Philly deli it'll change your life!!!!!

Parking: There's plenty of parking

Wheelchair accessibility: They're doing renovations to the surrounding areas so it's a little complicated to get inside but I'm pretty sure you could still get in with the wheelchair
