I've been going here for 4 years and the quality is always superb. This is not only my favorite mexican restaurant in Wilmington but La Tapatia is my favorite place to eat PERIOD. Their salsa bar alone has enough unique flavors to add to their outstanding variety of tasty entree options. The lunch menu is one of the best values in town as well. Love this place.

My family and I checked out this place while visiting Wilmington. The food was delicious and the prices were very affordable. We spent $56 for 3 people which included meals, drinks and snack (treat). The agua frescas were pretty good especially the Pineapple 🍍 and mango flavored. The corn on the cob with mayo tajin and cheese was on point. Highly recommend this place.
When visiting this restaurant, please make sure to double check what ingredients come on each plate.
I ordered sopes, that typically come with lettuce, mexican queso and crema. However, this restaurant adds onions and tomatoes to theirs.
When I got my order I asked the server what mexican state this restaurant was based off of, the server did not know. I told her that most mexican restaurants don’t add onions or tomatoes and asked her if i could have the dish remade.
She brought the dish back in less than a minute and all the topping were just taken off of the dish, not remade. No lettuce, queso or crema. Tomatoes and onions were still visible.
I proceeded to ask her, what if I was allergic to one of the ingredients and she took a while to respond. When she did respond, she stated to let them know next time that I don't want certain ingredients.
I let her know that then I would consider adding ingredients to their menu.
The restaurant itself is nice and the service was good at first, but after that interaction, my table was not tended to properly.

I wanted the burrito supreme which was supposed to have everything inside like a burrito I asked if there were any sides they said no but when I received my food it was a soggy flour tortilla half closed with just meat and peppers rice and the side and didn’t even get the cheese had to ask for it over all was disappointed with my food

The Chicken Enchilada at La Tapatia Taqueria is absolutely delicious! Tender chicken, flavorful sauce, and generous portion size. Highly recommend trying it!
