Absolutely wonderful! My wife and I savored the Friday Night Date Experience for two. Every course was unique, flavorful, nicely served, and generous portions. We had more than we could finish for a bargain price of just $64 for the two of us.
Great local Wilmington NC tapas wine bar (tasty beer and cocktails too). Wide range of food choices for everyone to enjoy. A place to go with people who like to try different things and share plates. Free parking lot and street parking as well. Located in the South Front district.
Food is EXCELLENT! Perfect portion sizes for sharing and tasting multiple dishes, including dessert! Relaxed comfortable atmosphere and food is inventive but approachable. Love this place and it is a pre-concert go to.
Our waitress was extremely kind and great, however the food was just not good. We ordered 5 items off the menu. We got the empanadas with oxtail in them and the oxtail was extremely cold-almost tasted like it was still frozen. It was a nice experience to try this restaurant but I would definitely try elsewhere.
Our dining experience was above and beyond. We chose the tapas menu for 2. Lakisha was our server and she was amazing! The food was delicious and our overall dining experience was 10/10. We'll definitely be back.
Food was very good! The bread was OMG!
Always a pleasure to dine here! Food and service are always great! Definitely check it out if your in town :)
I have been in Spain several times and although they try to copy same stuff from there on the menu, taste/quality is completely far away to be authentic. I expected to have real tapas, but a lot of opportunity to get there. I dont care to pay expensive, but way way pricey for the quality. 2 stars just because they have tropical lightning.
Had the shrimp & grits (could’ve used more seasoning or spice), ham & cheese (kinda basic, needed sliced tomatoes or maybe pesto) and bruschetta (too much bread and tomato sauce could’ve been thicker, perhaps add basil). Glad we tried it but a bit pricey for the quality we received.
Quaint, intimate, setting with friendly, attentive service — just what we were hoping for as this was our first experience at this establishment. We enjoyed everything we ordered, including a unique tequila drink with blood orange and a lime.

I would like to give this restaurant 4-5 stars because the food was good and brought back fond memories of our time spent in Spain and our own cooking classes there. But we were so turned off and unwelcome by the hostess that I just can’t justify it. We have never been treated so badly and oddly in all of the restaurants we’ve visited around the world. Our party of 3 arrived around 3:30 pm today. There were no other guests seated. The hostess asked if we had a reservation, and we replied that we didn’t, and asked if it was a problem. She told us we should have a reservation and that if we came again we needed a reservation. She said the restaurant was always at capacity. I mentioned the off time and no one being there. She said, “Mariposa is always full”. I didn’t know what to think. She didn’t offer us a table. So my husband asked if she thought we could be seated or not. There was not a single other guest. She sat us behind a wall. The only thing we could imagine is that they thought we weren’t dressed nice enough or something like that. My husband had a baseball cap on. My daughter shorts and a baggy t shirt after walking along the beach. Throughout our $90 meal she pointed at us laughing with the waitress. I thought maybe I was being overly sensitive, but my husband and daughter saw this too. When we left there was one man at the bar, and one table for 2 occupied. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on this. We have never felt more unwelcome in any other establishment. From Dives to Michelin Star restaurants, this was the oddest experience and worst, we have had. And it had nothing to do with the food.
We arrived 8 minutes early and weren't allowed inside. It was so hot outdoors and weren't even given a glass of water while we waited. Not very hospitable! My dish was not very warm and served much later than my 2 guests. I won't be returning anytime soon especially since there are so many great restaurants in Wilmington.
We came for my older brother's birthday. And we decided to go on Burger night too. We got a couple of Smash Burgers some potatoes and mushrooms. And it was all super duper delicious and we had a good time
Mariposa is one of my favorites in Wilmington. Everything on the menu is amazing and the cocktails are outstanding. I recently just had brunch there for the first time and that was phenomenal as well. Highly recommend!
Awesome experience had the shrimp dish and the ox tail empanadas also the ratatouille. Totally delish!!! Order aside or two of bread to absorb all the good juices up from the shrimp dish and the ratatouille.?. We had the Manhattan and also a old fashion. Both were delicious. Highly recommend the experience.
