Was gifted a drink from a friend on 10/30/25. She brought it to me at a place I was volunteering. Unfortunately, it tasted so bitter and not good. It was an iced latte. I called to tell what happened and ask if I could come get a replacement when I was finished . The person I spoke to was extremely rude asking for a receipt (it was bought by a friend for me). I told her I didn’t have a receipt but I could bring the drink back . She then asked me the name of the person who bought it. I told she paid cash at the drive thru so she wasn’t asked her name. I had to go so I just said “forget it” . I was so aggravated so I called this morning. I spoke to Georgia. I explained what happened, and without hesitation she told me to come for a replacement. She was so friendly. I really appreciated Georgia’s desire to help me!!
Excellent service!

Wow. Has this place changed. A little over 5 yrs ago I went in to get my coffee before starting my shift as a nurse at New Hanover. I was even given a customer of the week recognition! Went this am after endoscopic procedure, really looking forward to my favorite coffee. I couldn't even drink it. Asked for Black Mountain with 2 creams. Bitter and a waste of my money. Not sure what's going on with service.

I go to Port City Java every once in a while (let’s face it, it’s expensive these days) but when I do, we go to the one on 17th street. They are always nice and they always get my coffee right!! I always get the espresso shake with French vanilla and salted caramel flavoring and sometimes some caramel on top. Yes I know, this sounds like diabetes in a cup lol, but that’s why I only go every once in a while lol. If you’re looking for reliability, great service and awesome coffee then go here! Just look at that picture!!! You know you want one, so get up and just GO!!!!!!

Restaurantji Recommends
If you support small business, this is a locally owned and run coffee house. Plus. This is my favorite coffee. Always made how I ordered and rich coffee flavor without a bitter aftertaste. Breakfast sandwiches are tasty and made with fresh ingredients. They have a rewards program and online ordering. If you have never tried PCJ; go local you will not be disappointed.

I have been going to this location for almost two years now. The staff make it a point to remember your name. They make you feel at home and even remember your usual order and make it exactly right. I moved last year and I still go out of my way to go to this location. The coffee tastes better, the service is better and the staff actually seem to want to be there. I’ve tried other locations and all fall short to the 17th st location. That’s why I keep coming back. Great service, great drinks and a comfortable home like atmosphere. Keep up the great work!

Nice to see people actually enjoying their job! After I had a special request, my order was served correctly.
First time there drive thru is a tight space not many options to choose from they were able to make me a caramel shake in place of a mocha .
