Quality is not what it used to be. Ever since covid food & service quality has decreased. I've been disappointed the past 3 times I have brought visiting guests there.

We drove from Raleigh for a weekend trip and arrived in Wilmington at around 7:30pm. I chose Rosalie's Trattoria for dinner because the reviews were great and it was only 5 minutes from our hotel.
The place was very busy when we arrived. There were probably only 2 tables available inside. The hostess was very friendly and we were seated within 5 mins.
My 7yo daughter ordered the kids spaghetti and meatball, my partner ordered the sausage pasta, and I ordered the lobster ravioli. We ordered the mussels in red sauce for an appetizer.
All of the food was delicious. The mussels were flavorful and the sauce they were in was amazing. My lobster ravioli was the best I've ever had. I told my partner I wanted to eat it slowly because I was gonna miss it when it was gone. He said his sausage pasta was great because it had a similar sauce to the one the mussels came in.
Our server was attentive the entire time even though they were so busy. She answered any questions we had and was very good with our talkative 7yo. I wish I would've gotten her name.
For dessert we got the chocolate mousse cake and it was probably the best we've had in a long time. I strongly recommend it. The cake wasn't too sweet and the mousse was so light.
I told my partner I'd like to come back here the next time we're in the area.

Maddie (sp?) was an exceptional host and server. Restaurant has a wide menu and is generous with making dishes your own. Food was delicious, prices were great for the generous portions. Thank you!

I don’t usually give reviews but I truly don’t understand the hype about this place. We are not super picky eaters either. We don’t mind the atmosphere being loud, or the old building. The food is just sub par! I don’t understand why NY Italians would like this food. My husband’s Nona was NY/Southern Italian. For reference! I’m southern and not Italian but I can cook way better than this mess. Ziti had a clump of cheese on top- not quality and not properly “baked”. It was not flavorful or full of sauce. I had a chicken that had glum pieces of “fried” eggplant that was dried out. Came with overly cooked and salted vegetables. If I can cook better than this why did we just pay $70 ? Feel kinda cheated. Just feel it in the pit of our stomach now.
We don’t complain much and make a big deal that ruins dinner. We had a long day and were just hungry.

Rosalie’s Trattoria is hands-down the BEST restaurant in Wilmington!

For years, we have been traveling all the way to Myrtle Beach for great Italian dinners—so discovering a place so MUCH better and right here at home feels like a dream come true.

From the moment we walked in, we were enveloped in the scent of Italy—fresh ingredients, food made from scratch, and that unmistakable aroma of something special simmering in the kitchen.

We were warmly greeted by Rosalie herself, the owner, who immediately made us feel like family. She took the time to chat with us before we were even seated, and that personal touch set the tone for the entire evening.

Then came Scarlet—an absolute gem of a person—who treated us like royalty from start to finish.

The food? Incredible. We started with calamari and marinara—the sauce tasted like Nonna herself was stirring the pot. Rich, fresh, and clearly made to order.

I ordered an Espresso Martini, and I can say with full confidence it was the best one in Wilmington (and I’ve tried them all!). You could truly taste the care in every sip.

For our main courses, we had the shrimp fra diavolo and shrimp scampi. Every bite was packed with flavor—the pasta perfectly al dente, and the sauces tasted like they came straight from a beloved family recipe.

We ended the evening with a limoncello and chocolate mousse, and it was the perfect finish to a perfect meal.

The food, the service and the ambiance—it was a 10/10 experience. In a world where so many places cut corners, it’s refreshing and inspiring to see a restaurant that stays true to its roots.

Thank you, Rosalie and Scarlet, for one of the most memorable dining experiences we have had in Wilmington! We feel so lucky to have found this gem—and we’ll definitely be back again and again!

Food is excellent. It is better than Olive Garden in my opinion. The service was great. It is very expensive, but it is worth it.

Ordered eggplant parm for takeout. The eggplant was not cooked properly; it had that uncooked, unprepared flavor and texture. Spaghetti was overcooked and the sauce was not well seasoned. First visit. Won't return.

We ordered the chicken parm. It was great. The tiramisu for dessert was delicious as well. The waitress was great too and beautiful, loved the smile as well. She checked on us regularly and made sure we was good. The atmosphere was nice and a cozy spot for a date. Will go back when I visit next year for my vacation.

Delicious food and wonderful service at Rosalie’s. Portions are large and for a $5 charge you can share an entree. Although we didn’t have a reservation, following a 30-minute + wait—during prime time—we were able to get a table for four. The seating was a bit tight and the chairs not very comfortable, but while waiting, beneath a Spanish moss-ladened tree in the courtyard, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Great company, good food, and a weekend at the beach. I love the summer!
