It reminded me of the old Southern diners I used to visit as a kid. The waitress even brought a few regulars their drinks without asking what they wanted. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which came with a biscuit. The grits were SUPER cheesey, but I thought they were pretty good. I'm glad we decided to try this place.

I love The Sawmill Cafe! This is such a wonderful neighborhood gem, and the people and food are always fantastic. While I have dined here many times, I brought my father here for the first time yesterday (he's visiting) and he raved about his fish and shrimp and talking about coming back over his morning coffee. Thank you for giving us locals a place to keep coming back to.

Claire is the absolute best !
I usually order take out and this sweet young lady always goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect when I arrive, especially because I call when I'm leaving work "Wilmington" and am exhausted and just needing a good home cooked meal to take home. Last time I ordered she wasn't working that day and when I arrived over approx 45 minutes later my order had not even been put in and I wasn't told this until After I had paid and tipped the young lady ! Then I waited 30+ minutes for my dinner.
Everyone there is pleasant but I will not order again unless Claire is working that day.

Waitress was not attentive. Meatloaf was not good. Ginger ale watered down. Waitress does not know the difference between collard greens and turnip greens.

Great place, nice menu. It's a little noisy because of the type of building. Hard to hear others for me, I don't hear that well to start with. The food was great, the waitress we had was fantastic. Service was exceptional. Priced right!

Best food at the beach with the best prices. Family owned and operated homestyle restaraunt. Servings were generous and food was plated and served hot. A nice hometown feel close to town. Had they been open on Sundays and Mondays we would have eaten there more often. Best place to eat in Wilmington for families
