This is the most amazing place I have ever experienced when it comes to tiki lounges. I have traveled all over to find a crown jewel of tiki bars and here it exists in Wilmington, NC! I plan to bring my daughter here for her 23rd birthday and from there I plan to bring all my visiting guests to The Sorrow Drowner. The food and drinks were phenomenal along with the crew who created them. They have put an extensive amount of creative energy into the theme and spirit of tiki. Just truly amazing and I will be back.

Very unique concept. Almost dinner show vibe with tons of artifacts and scenery to set the ambiance. Escapists rejoice as you teleport far from Wilmington. Drinks are great and staff is committed to the experience and immersion.

Talk about dedicated to a theme (exploration vibes)! While the outside of the building isn't much to look at, the inside is phenomenal with a huge amount of time and money spent on getting every detail right. You can tell all of the employees are happy and interested in working here. They were funny and easy to interact with. The drink options were so cool, and while the food menu was limited, the Traditional PuPu Platter was perfect! There was a burlesque show after 7:45pm, but you don't have to stay for that (if you do, there is a $5 per person fee automatically added onto your bill).

Loved the place overall, service was a bit haphazard but we weren't in any kind or rush so didn't mind at all. Food was better than decent but to be fair we didn't try much, mainly there for game night which was a blast!!

These drinks are what "tiki drinks" are supposed be. Holy crap the painkiller was great, fresh grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick burning like incense balanced on top with actual fresh fruit (not your typical bar oranges). The show was entertaining and lively, south pacific live music, classy burlesque, and a bit of humor.
We didn't have reservations, but we're able to be seated at the bar pretty quickly by the delightful hostess. Bartender was friendly, quick, and clearly a professional.
Apparently they do game nights as well, which sounds awesome but haven't been for that, yet.
Will definitely be back!
Kid-friendliness: There is a sign on the door regarding kids allowed ages, but after 7pm it's 17 and up only.

Amazing atmosphere! Even for a quiet Thursday the bartender and entertainment were amazing and we had a wonderful evening! I definitely plan on coming back soon!

We had high hopes but we’re disappointed. The atmosphere and staff were great. The drinks just didn’t stand up to expectations. They were watered down and lacked the complexity of flavor you usually find in tiki drinks. Also the bartender was overheard saying that the vodka and tequila bottles were mixed up half the night and no one noticed in their drinks.
