The food and service was great, but they don’t take a card and there is absolutely NO signage letting you know. We went with no cash and would up running around in circles trying to find an atm.
First time at this establishment! The food was great but the service was even better. Anytime I visit Wilson, this will be my lunch spot. The southern hospitals couldn’t have been any better.
A friend and I made a trip to Wilson, NC just to have lunch at Parker's Barbecue, one of the best known restaurants on the NC Barbecue Trail. Delicious eastern style, whole hog barbecue with a couple of sides (including Brunswick stew), hush puppies, corn sticks and perfect sweet tea. This restaurant has been around for more than 70 years and is known for its food and not it's atmosphere. No waitresses but efficient young men that are ready to serve your beverage and take your order almost before you can sit down. And your food will arrive before you can take more that 2 sips of your tea. The barbecue is delicious, and the fried chicken ain't bad. If you've been here before you will agree with me. If you have never been here before I suggest you start making excuses to visit Wilson, NC.
Yummy fried chicken!!! Great hush puppies. We Stop here each time we go to Florida. Worth getting off 95 to go there.....
Food is always good here and priced reasonably. We normally go on Sunday afternoons and it is extremely busy. Food comes out quickly and is good. You can order fish but only after 3 PM.
It had been a couple of years, so it was good to settle in with that fantastic, sweet tea and homey old school atmosphere again. Our BBQ plates of that Eastern style were very good, and the "yellow" Cole slaw is always a sweet favorite. Along with the Brunswick stew and hush puppies it made for a nice lunch. My wife also liked the green beans and potatoes. For some reason we just don't care for the corn sticks. Our waiter was as good as it gets.
I believe there is no good BBQ west of Raleigh and Parkers qualifies based on locale and, more importantly, for their food. For less than $12 you can get a combo plate – pulled pork, fried chicken, hushpuppies, corn sticks, coleslaw, Brunswick stew, French fries , and sweet tea (the house wine of the South) – and still have leftovers. The high school boy waiters still wear the khaki pants, white aprons, and paper hats used since 1946.
I love Parker’s but I have one suggestion, when you order take out, they put the slaw, potatoes and stew in the plate loose, and it runs together…and the slaw is warm, Greenville Parker’s put the sides in individual containers to keep it from running together..
Parker’s came and catered our pool/4th of July party this past Saturday and did a great job! The food was delicious and the service was amazing!
Lack of transparency. Just be honest

Very busy barbecue joint that has a restaurant area and a takeout area around back. No frills and was surprised they did not have any ribs or brisket. Did not care for the shrimp and the catfish was OK. The Fried chicken was very good and we went back to get more for the evening. Reasonably priced, and there was an outdoor area to eat, which was good because we had a dog with us. Cash only but they do have an ATM in the place
Great spot to get a to go true southern pill pork sandwich with true Southern ice tea, green beans and coleslaw ! Ate in the picnic area because it was a beautiful day and we had our dog with us! Sonout side is dog friendly
BBQ chicken was some of the best I’ve had

⭐ 1/5 – I’d Rather Eat a McRib ⭐
I came to North Carolina for the first time, excited to try some real Southern barbecue. Instead, I got an experience that was so bad it deserves its own horror movie.
I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a fish sandwich, expecting a fresh, hot meal from the kitchen. Instead, the waitress casually strolled over to the buffet line, scooped my food from the trough, and slapped it onto a plate like she was feeding farm animals. If I had known that was the plan, I would have just served myself and saved the disappointment.
The pulled pork sandwich? Dry as the Sahara. No barbecue sauce. I had to walk to my car and grab a packet of sauce I saved from South Carolina (thank God for past me). Even after adding my own sauce, it still tasted like sadness.
The fish sandwich? It looked and tasted like it had fought in a war and lost.
My friend got collard greens that were somehow both cold and mushy—a real culinary paradox. And yes, those also came straight from the buffet line.
To top it all off, as we were leaving, we noticed a health inspection notice on the kitchen door, basically admitting that their cleaning game was as weak as their food.
If you're looking for disappointment served on a plate, this is your spot. Otherwise, save yourself the suffering and just go to McDonald’s—at least they put sauce on their McRib.
Would I recommend this place? Only if I hated you.
