Athena Greek Taverna

11/20/2021 was their last day!! We enjoyed some lambchops with lemon rice and salad and wished them well. It was a very comfortable place to eat at.

Ive been going to Athenas for the past year. I opened a business beside Yiannis and i will admit part of the happy reason why i loved opening up my shop near him was because of his restaurant. I literally order hos good everyday im working in the shop and i always love our conversations when picking up my food. Although it will be sad to see you leave, i hope you enjoy your restaurant retirement. We loved having you around and will continue to compare your food to any greek restaurant near you. Lol it wont be beaten

So sad to see you guys closing. This will always be my favorite spot for Authentic Gyros!

Eat in carry out best gyro I have had. Definitely my go to, love the food, service and the price.

I eat here at least once a week. Food is always amazing. The owners are friendly. I love supporting a family owned business.I am not a big meat fan but love their chicken. I always order that with a side of Taziki sauce.Highly recommend!!!

Passing thru town, needed quick midday meal. Dining room closed because - surprise! No staff available, like everywhere - but takeout works. Owner acting as host, charming Greek fellow. Fairly quick prep time, 10 minutes or so, and EXCELLENT food. Will definately return.

Gooy food had sandwiches. One was great one had hardly any sauce on it. That was our only complaint. Since it was take out only we didnt know til we got home.

Amazing food!Greek side salad was simple, fresh, and tasty.Had the Greek Platter with Gyro, rice, and green beans, delicious!Hubby had lamb and chicken fire roasted.Food was cooked perfectly and everything tastes amazing.Desserts are a MUST! Tiramisu!!! Proportions are very good size so worth the money.

We have truly enjoyed the food here. Their gyros and tzatziki are excellent. My wife loves the Greek salad. We've gotten takeout from here just about every time we were in town visiting our kids.

I came for lunch. The place is well decorated without being over the top. It was busy but not packed. However, it seems they might be a little short staffed as there was only one gentleman covering the tables of the entire place, plus answering the phone and at the register. So services was understandably somewhat slow.That being said, don't let it deter you from visiting this gem. I ordered the gyro pita for lunch. It was excellent. A very large portion of tender, juicy, and flavorful beef/lamb filled the pita with fresh tomatoes and onions. The fried potatoes were crisp and we'll seasoned.I will definitely return as this was the best gyro I have had in quite some time.

Name a better Greek or Middle Eastern restaurant in Winston Salem...I’ll wait.
