Everyone tells you that you need to experience other cultures dishes to appreciate diversity, and so with that in mind, I make a conscious effort to see if you really can justify it all with food... I decided to try Jamaican food for the first time, and I can assure all readers that it will also be my last. To start with I wasnt greeted at all, in fact, the man and woman inside looked at me as if I were perhaps lost or didnt quite belong. We're off to a great start as you can see. For $23 dollars I got curried goat, rice and potatoes with gravy, and cabbage (Nope, not even a drink with that $23 lunch tray). Very, very expensive was my initial thought, but I soldiered on in order to obtain what I felt sure would be an explosion of flavors, and a positive ethnic food experience. I ate the first few bites and initially thought that I missed the gravy where the flavor is... The rice was dry, and bland; Honestly I've had more flavor in rice from Zatarains microwave packs. The gravy was nothing to write home about, and the curried goat didnt task of curry at all - actually, it didnt much task like goat either. I'm an avid enjoyer of gamey meats and I'm pretty familiar with goat, so with that being said, I'm not unconvinced that this meat was roast meat being played off as goat and sold at insane prices. It was dry, rubbery, and full - absolutely full of fat. At times I gaged because the chewy, slimy feel of the meat just seemed to want to escape my mouth. As I took in more and more of my listless Caribbean encounter, I tried to quantify what this food made me feel like. I kept thinking to myself that I should feel a since of easy going, island vibes - perhaps a need to hug my neighbor and watch a John Candy movie. Instead, I kept thinking that if I absolutely had to attach a word to the food in front of me it would be "Poverty". I did not get any feeling that this food had been carefully crafted over decades or centuries and recipes improved upon with each generation of chefs and families. Instead, I got the impression that this was a last ditch effort to feed starving kids being passed off to me as an enlightening social/culinary expedition that just felt cheap and underwhelming. I find myself wondering what mass diversity has to offer now that I've tried more than a fair share of African, and Caribbean foods and have not been impressed with any of them at all. The other issue I noticed while waiting for my order was that two Black gentlemen came in to place an order soon after mine was placed and asked about half off their prices, to which the women told them to wait where they were for a moment and she would take care of them... Seems a little dodgy and racist. To be fair, I didnt stay to see if they did in fact receive a 50% discount, but nevertheless, not addressing that in front of 2 other customers that just paid full price doesnt leave much room for doubt. Over all, I give this food 1 star. While edible, it fails to inspire, instead invoking a sense of almost helplessness and virtual penury. Unless this is close to your ethnic norm, My suggestion would be to stick with Italian and Mexican. Its much less expensive, and much better tasting.

Everytime I drive by this place I am let down their never open when they are advertised open ,
I ordered the curry goat, rice & peas with cabbage. it was not good at all. The meat was undercooked and rice was horrible. I wouldn’t recommend this place for authentic Caribbean food.

If I can rate it zero I would. The “brown” stew chicken was light skinned and tasted like boiled chicken. The rice was super mushy and the Mac had zero flavor. Ate three bites and threw it away. Waste of money smh

Drive 40 minutes to do a food review on this place. IT WAS TERRIBLE! I mean from the time I walked in and dealing with that black lady’s nasty attitude to the time i did the review! When asked about the oxtails the response i got was so ugly. My plan was to purchase 3 dish after the nonsense attitude I decided to just grab 1 thing for lunch and do the review based off of that. She truly blocked the restaurant’s blessing. Shame on you miss lady do better. Us a black people have got to do better. My cabbage was sour , I couldn’t believe they would sell spoiled cabbage. Brown stew chicken was not good.

This is by far one of the worst eating experiences I’ve ever had. We called ahead to place the order as it was close to closing. The woman on the phone let us know we were still in the grace period, and that the food would be done in 10 minutes. 10 minutes later, she lets us know that she didn’t cook the food because “people order and don’t pick up all the time”. I should have taken that as a sign and not see how much redder the flag could get. One of the beef patties she gave us was broken up so she offered Mac and Cheese as a constellation. It seemed more like a consequence once we tried to taste it. It was so bad my husband and I spit it out ?. (Which I’ve never had to do anywhere else) We literally only ordered beef patties with coco bread, and rice and peas with just the oxtail gravy. I thought the order was fool proof until now. One of the coco breads was HARD AS A ROCK!!!! Literally banged it on a counter top and it didn’t even leave a dent in the bread ?. The rice and peas with the gravy looked like they ate some and then served us the rest and it tasted like dog food. I have videos but it won’t let me upload them. Eat here at your own risk if you don’t take my word for it. I’m so disappointed in this poor excuse of Caribbean food. Y’all should be ashamed! SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND GO EAT SOME PLACE ELSE!

The food is not great. The curry chicken is just okay. I recently had the oxtail plate and it was ?. The oxtail was mostly fat and the rice and peas was mush. The cabbage was the best item on the plate and that was still subpar. The food did not have much flavor. All in all, I was highly disgusted.
