Nice place, reasonable prices, but they definitely messed up my daughter's order and only admitted after being asked about it . Overall, the establishment was nice, waitress had high energy but her table side manner needed work. Still.tipped. still recommend establishment, just not small-minded people. Winston-Salem location monday night

Bread was soggy !! Lettuce brown !! Chicken half done 😒 !!! Just threw my sandwich in the tray half done for 18$ is insane . Y’all done fell off !!

It's been years since I have been here. Since they have revamped the menu in a good way. Had the cheese curds which were great. The burgers are delicious as well. Didn't do anything big drink wise. I enjoyed a couple of Heineken drafts. They were cold enough to enjoy at your own pace. Good beer menu and great service. I would definitely be going back.

A unique twist to the Varsity Burger unlike other Carolina Ale Houses throughout the Carolinas. The buns are large and spongy, nice portion of bacon, fries are absolutely top notch! Garlic Parm wings, NOT what we expected and definitely undercooked or just barely reached doneness, rubbery chicken skin should be the test of avoidance at any wing spot. We visited Carolina Ale House based on the reviews of others. I found it interesting that so many were either "loved it" or "hated it". Seems to be quite the polarizing place! We tried it just to see what our experience would be. We were ... Meh.
It was okay.
We really liked the buffalo chicken dip starter. That part was a win. The atmosphere was also inviting.
Our greeter was happy and helpful. Our wait staff seemed nice enough but kind of distracted or... bored, maybe? It was all good. Everyone has an off day.
Hubby liked the brisket french dip he ordered. I - on the other hand - wasn't super impressed with the sourdough burger I ordered. It was bland and greasier than it needed to be. The fries were tasty and crispy, but also way greasier than they needed to be. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing for me. It happens.
Overall. Was Carolina Ale House good for a one time try? Sure. Will we ever go back if we visit W-S again? Probably not.
