I know it's a novelty shop but everything in there is so expensive, all the merchandise and the food. Worth going if you've never been, I only got some Sugar cakes and ginger cookies for Christmas presents. The line was to the door because it was Christmas Eve but the service was pretty fast considering all the people. They have a system going on . The employees are very friendly.
While a little pricey, Dewey's Bakery remains the best bakery I've ever been in. The cake is moist and the icing is so sweet and delicious. I've taken pink lemonade cupcakes to several gatherings and they've almost always been the life of the dessert table. If you visit Winston Salem, go to Dewey's. You won't be disappointed.
I drive from Charlotte to pick up some of the Moravian pastry delights. I make a trip or 2 a year. I am from Winston-Salem and have enjoyed these delights since my grandmother made them. I pick up cookies of several different varieties and of course Sugar cakes.
