First time there yesterday I got a hot Capo Italian sub. I call it a grinder from where I come from. It was excellent. I bought a bunch of meatballs to take home. Included them in some of my sauce tonight.
The meatballs were excellent!
Next time I go there I’m doubling my order getting two grinders and 16 Meatballs. Highly recommend this place.

All they have is one tiny little bookcase of prepackaged pasta and snacks. Not the place if you're looking for Italian ingredients

Hands down the best Italian cuisine in Winston Salem (yes, even Di Lisio's, despite different offerings).
The lasagna is delicious and despite many efforts, I cannot replicate the authentic flavor of Dioli’s at home. The tuna and potato salad are chefs kiss! 🤌🏽
If you’re looking for something sweet, the peanut butter cheesecake is pure heaven as well as the tiramisu. My child likes all the colorful cookie selections.
Plan accordingly, they close early and aren’t open for dinner. I recommend bringing the items home to warm yourself though; they do use microwaves to heat the food if you choose to dine in house.
The soda selections in the cooler, like the cream soda & root beer are a treat we like to occasionally indulge in.
So glad this place survived Covid.
The family who runs the place are friendly and always slammed!

Edit to say: I decided to read only the negative reviews after posting bc I was just curious what WS folks think about this place - wow, you just have to laugh..people complaining about a 50¢ price difference, mask wearing (when it’s proven they don’t make a difference) and the most common negative review, the grumpy old man..has no one here ever been to Italy?! Every chef in Italy is a grump, albeit in my years going here (since they were located downtown), I’ve never even seen this person everyone speaks of. The young guy up front and the woman with her hair slicked back are usually super busy and not there to converse with me..I’m a rather sensitive person and have never been offended.
So funny, thanks for the laughs Winston! I swear I have no affiliation with this place. If you go out to eat to feel important and be coddled maybe you should dine elsewhere. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Also, anything on that side of town is going to be flooded with Wake Students during the school year..how is that a problem?

Also, to Dioli’s: Thanks for my complimentary sticker today!! Love repping local. Thanks for your contribution to our community!

Their Italian sandwich on ciabatta is THE BEST. I love that they do arugula, mayo provolone and red onion on it. It's so simple but delicious, especially with some chips added in. Seriously get something on ciabatta, you won't regret it.

The food here is absolutely phenomenal!!!! Best sandwich I’ve ever had -truly. I grew up in NY and the food is better than NY at Dioli’s!!! We cannot wait to come back again. Their bakery is truly delicious too! We loved everything we had and this is my new favorite place in Winston to eat!!!

Honestly the best sandwiches in town. A truly amazing family-operated business!

Tried a new place for nice desserts yesterday and always come back to no one can beat Dioli’s. Lemon curd tarts are tart and sweet at the same time, brownies with intense chocolate, focaccia makes the very best sandwiches. I could go on and on, but let’s just say this place is simply unmatched in WS for desserts and sandwiches.

My child and I were spitting out plastic wrappers from our sandwhich. And the place is dirty.

Was anxious to try the place but reading a constant theme of a crotchety man there (owner?) That is very unfriendly and unwelcoming. Cust Svc is 50%-plus of a business. A great welcoming atmosphere can even overcome nominal food. My money doesn't play well with misery. So, I have no interest in coming. Sweeten Up.

Arrived at 10:30 am on a Saturday and they were on fact not open. No sign on door. Drove out here for nothing sadly.
