I really wanted to like this place. Let me start by saying this is an honest review from a person that’s had Jamaican (Caribbean) food many times from all over. This is by far the absolute worst I’ve ever had and I’m convinced that the people leaving good reviews for this place has never had authentic Jamaican food. I ordered the oxtail plate. There were so many things wrong with this food and I was pissed that I wasted my money, quite honestly. The first thing I noticed was there was way too much rice probably to make up for the fact that there was much of nothing else. The plating was terrible. All of my food was buried under the rice and all mixed together. Not everyone likes their food mixed and touching, gross. When I first tasted the gravy I literally laughed. Not only was it very sweet, but it tasted NOTHING like Jamaican flavors. I’m not sure where they got this recipe from but it was absolutely horrible. Very sweet and I’m assuming they dumped sugar in it to cover up this unique flavor that this food had. Next the oxtail. They were NOT CLEANED properly! They were FULL of fat. So much fat there was hardly any lean meat. I had about 4 bones and fat for $20+. Absolutely ridiculous! Not only that they were also tough and not tender or fall off the bone like traditional Jamaican oxtail. After I realized I couldn’t eat the oxtail, or wanted to, I moved on and decided to try the cabbage and plantains. I had to dig to even get to them and when I did they were covered in that disgusting sweet gravy! But even the gravy could’ve hide the taste of the cabbage. I’m not sure how one can mess up cabbage but the cabbage had no flavor at all! It has a slight kick to it but other than that it tasted like they threw it in a pot and took it out to serve it without adding a lick of seasoning. The plantains, which I only received 2 tiny pieces, were drenched in the gravy so I didn’t even want to taste them. Aside from all of the above, my food was FULL of Pimento seeds and huge thyme stems. I’m not sure why but when I say they were everywhere they were! Unprofessional! This was my first and last time ever visiting this place and I do not recommend. Highly disappointed that I gave them my money for this crap. I do NOT recommend!

The food taste poor, like when you can’t cook you add sugar to everything type taste. What do o expect coming out of a gas station in North Carolina where no real Caribbean ppl live …. Long story short

This little grill is located in a Mobile Station/Convenience Store. This is strictly a take out spot where you can view their offerings cafeteria style. There is plenty of parking available to the left side of the store. I ordered the Ox Tail plate which comes with rice, pigeon peas, shredded cabbage, and sweet plantains. I also tried the Cod Fritter. The order was complete in around 10 minutes since all that was required was to place the already cooked items in a take out container. The Ox Tail was excellent - falling off the bone tender with a lot of flavor. As always with this dish, there are small bones as well as the large ones, and there will be some small area of gristle, so some caution is required as you eat. The rice, peas, cabbage mixture and the plantains were all very good, though a bit under seasoned for my tastes - some salt and a bit of hot sauce cured that up quickly. I didn't care for the well sized fritter, there was no flavor and it was rather greasy. The cost was $18, and while there was a lot of food (take out container was packed full), most of it was the rice, peas, etc. The ox tail was not overly abundant. The service was great, pleasant and efficient. I will come back to try the Goat Curry, Jerk Chicken, and the Fish Stew. Ambiance - 2 (as you would expect) Food - 4 Service - 4.5 Value - 3

Gas station food for some reason is sometimes the best food. This time some of the best food. The guy taking care of us was super nice. The gas station itself was okay.Ordered 2 plates and patties. The patties are very good. The crust was on point and the flavor great. One plate was oxtail / beef and onions with spinach rice. It was delicious, cooked well seasoned well and not too salty. The second plate was curry chicken and brown stew chicken. This was also delicious. We will definitely be returning.FYI - it can be a little pricey.
