Sakura Japanese & Sushi on Stratford Road

I had the most amazing experience here today. Sat down at the sushi bar. Mickey and Kiki were super cool. Ordered tuna tataki as a starter. They served it with shredded carrots instead of Japanese radish. Loved it! Their ponzu sauce was next level amazing. I asked Kiki what his favorite roll is. He asked if I would like something special. Yes! I said surprise me. What he built was nothing short of perfection! Shrimp, avocado, cream cheese, topped with spicy tuna, and surrounded by soft shell crab on the plate. An amazing drizzle with spice over the top. That was one of the best pieces of sushi that I've ever put in my face! I asked what it was called. He just made it up on the spot. Not even on the menu! I told him to name it, my new favorite roll. Y'all need to go see my boy Kiki at the sushi bar. Had an amazing experience today and looking forward to coming back soon.

Let me make one thing clear, there was NO wait when we arrived. We sat there for almost 30 mins with no one acknowledging us. We told a server that walked by that we were ready to order and she said the server would be right over. The server never came. 4 tables around us were sat, greeted and they ordered. We walked out. This was my favorite little hole in the wall spot and tonight they dropped the ball. This was Unacceptable. I called to speak with a manager and they said she was too busy to talk. I won’t be back here.

Sanitation grade was a 92 something, still an A, technically but my Gen-X brain immediately went, “Hmm… that’s oddly specific.” Not saying the kitchen was questionable, but also not not saying it wasn't.

The orange chicken had a strange aftertaste I can’t quite explain, and the rice was dry enough to remind me of cafeteria lunches in 1987. Just not my thing.

Now, the waitress was wonderful... friendly, attentive, and honestly the best part of the experience.

But between the food and the side eye inducing sanitation score, this place is probably a one and done for me.

I survived hose water and gas station coffee in the 90s, so if I’m hesitant… that says something.

Excellent service good food and prices were competitive pricing. We enjoyed the hibachi items and ordered a Stratford roll to share. 10/10 and without waiting unlike the 45 minutes at Tokyo or 1.5hr at Arigatos.

We got pick up and I’m sorry but this was not good. Shrimp was almost chewy and had no flavor, chicken was cold and had no flavor. The carrots had a darker color to then
Sushi and miso soup wasn’t bad.
Maybe eating in is better than getting take out

Workers here are so nice. Portions are big and the food is delicious. My sister and I go all the time and love it

The Sushi was good, but my Pho soup had no taste. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined when a huge cockroach started crawling around our feet, and we couldn’t finish our meal. The place feels very run-down and is in desperate need of renovation.

Our favorite place for sushi to go 😃

I have been here a few times at lunch for their Japanese food which was delicious so I wanted to try their sushi tonight with my husband. The staff made me a special roll that wasn't on their menu and it was such a pretty presentation and absolutely delicious. The staff are so kind and helpful. And the food is delicious. They have a long time customer for sure!
