I grew up in Newberry SC and now live in Columbia SC, but since I was around 4yo (1988) have ate here many times. If me or my family are even close to Asheville we make it a point to stop. (I even still have my hat I was given by, I believe the owner, in the mid 1990's). This is not just the best pizza place in WNC, I put it at the top of the list for best pizza places in existence.

Can't believe I didn't know about Carl's place sooner....This is the best sicilian I've had outside of Brooklyn. Crust was thick, but light & airy... just like great Italian bread... I used to go to the Frank's across from the mall, so glad I found this location.... Can't wait to try his calzone & stromboli!

Best pizza in Asheville! A long time locally owned pizza joint. They can’t be beat! My family has been going there for forty some odd years and it’s our favorite and them be the facts! When I was a young man I delivered for him and I can tell you he is a great guy and is very picky about the ingredients that he uses and the cleanliness of his restaurant. Can’t wait to order some for our Christmas dinner!

Kid-friendliness: He always greets my kids and has a good banter with them. They always wanna go in and talk to Carl.

Pizza is crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings. It’s why it’s so hard to get everything right if you use subpar ingredients. This place is old school and food done right. Crust was delicious. Just the right amount of sauce. Generous cheese that is delicious and stringy. Topping were perfect. Absolutely fantastic pie. Finally!

This is the best pizza place here in western NC. I came here last week for my first time and the guy that works here answered all my questions and assured me that he makes good food! It’s a one-man show and he runs it well. The service was amazing and made me feel very welcomed.It is take-out only because there is only one guy that runs it, so be patient.. it’s worth it.I got a Stromboli which cost me about $18 for a supreme. Absolutely delicious! Will come back again.
