Stopped for a weekday breakfast. DH had biscuits and gravy with two eggs. The gravy had a strange tang to it. I had the buttermilk pancake and a slice of toast (which were both okay). The place was not very clean, with syrup marks on the chair rail and all over the syrup jar, and a hair in the pour spout. The small cream pitcher had several blobs of gloop on the outside.I guess I just prefer my dining venues to be clean, and with food that tastes at least as good as I could make at home (in a cleaner kitchen)I was a little put off by the coffee cups from other businesses (a local hardware store and some kind of steel business), but I could have construed that as charming if the coffee and food had been great.Gave it a 2 star since the food was edible (we each ate over half of our meal).
I’ve been to CJ’s before and the food was amazing. However, today I brought my wife and 2 children there at 12:30 pm, this google page says they are open until 2. The rude owner gave us a dirty look as we stood waiting to be seated, charged past us to lock the door behind us and as I ask him if they are closed, he mutters yes as he almost knocks over my 9 year old son because he was in such a hurry. My son literally jumped out of his way. A simple “Sorry, we’re closed” would have done the trick, now I have to give up one of my favorite diners. Randy’s restaurant delivered, so no worries.
I have not dined in but I have ordered from here twice. I actually really like the food. I'm seeing some reviews about rude employees. I think it is important to understand that some people have bad days and working in food service/retail can be stressful. Let people know that you appreciate the work they do and you may make a staff member's day.
Called to ask if there was a wait and the owner said “what’s it matter” and scoffed. Easy way to drive away buisness acting so rude. I see lots of reviews of people saying the same thing about rude staff. Unfortunate.
The service was horrible and we felt as though we were not welcome there . Very disappointed because we live so close . The first time we were there we had a great lady serving us . This time the owner was so rude to us you lost our business and all of our friends and family . Maybe shut down your business if you want to be a dick to people .
Great location, nice menu selection and friendly waitress.
The staff are absolutely lovely. The pancakes are fluffy and delicious. Food is great. Will definitely come back. They get busy, but it is well worth the wait.
I am from Plattsmouth, Ne. My son and I were in town for the NDSU football camp. I went to CJ’s on Saturday morning for breakfast . We were greeted and seated immediately. I had the CJ Plus with a pancake. All the food was great. I will tell you their blueberry pancake was fantastic. So good, I ordered 2 more. By far the best pancakes I ever had. So if you are in Fargo I highly recommend CJ’s Kitchen!
The service was terrible. They brought us water and we weren’t ready to order yet. Which was our fault. The guy seemed irritated and just turns and walks away. He didn’t come back to ever get our order. So finally we had to get up and tell him we were ready to order. Still, no eye contact. No response. Then finally comes over and takes our order. My friend orders and he cuts her off as she is talking and asks how she wants her eggs. Then I said I would like the same and he goes “eggs, toast, hashbrowns, K” grabs the menu from my hand and walks away. I didn’t even get a chance to change how the eggs were made.Drops our food off and doesn’t say a thing. Drops our tab off and doesn’t say a thing. I have grace for bad days but this service was so bad we will never be back and until major changes happen I wouldn’t recommend you go either.I felt bad for being there and being a burden to him to have to serve us.Sad, too, seems like it could be a great family owned place if they showed some kindness and respect.

Great diner food. Service wasn't great which is the only reason I'm giving it a 4.
Food was great and our waitress was amazing. My business was lost when I paid the bill. The gentleman who ran my card was extremely rude.
Good enough breakfast. Nothing special, with a frantic owner/manager trying to do everything. I would go back, nothing wrong, just not great. All the regular breakfast options.
Gave it a chance, checking that right off the list!! Disappointed! LONG wait for coffee & tea, although it was not terribly busy. We each ordered an easy omelet that again took a long time. $10+ for a so-so breakfast?. Seemed like pourable eggs with Bacon bits from Sams Club. Hash browns were an added cost too. Keep driving! Something better is somewhere else.
The best cafe I've been to in a LONG time. If you're looking for breakfast, look no further! Excellent home-cooked food, very friendly and expedient service! Long have I lamented the reign of mediocre big chain cafes forcing small cafes out of business, but CJs represents that most quintessential small town Cafe. You can sit at a table/booth, or just belly up to the counter for a quick bite to eat. Excellent quality ingredients, very fair prices, staff that care, and cooks that can take pride in their food. I'll be coming by very often!
