The food was okay. However, on a slow night with a few other people at tables, there was no server for about 15 minutes. I have never been here before. I didn't know how it went. I wasn't sure if I had to refill my own drinks or wait. It was such a long wait, not even asking how the food was.

Visited Himalayan Yak for dinner during a weekend trip to Fargo as a Canadian. This is one of the few restaurant options in the city with a decent vegan menu (there were at least 7 menu items that were entirely vegan). I had the mushroom curry which comes with basmati rice and it was very tasty with good flavour. My partner had the Chana masala which was also very good. You can specify the level of spiciness. I enjoyed checking out a locally owned restaurant rather than a big chain. A hidden gem in Fargo!
Lost the online order and took over an hour to get then already paid for food. Multiple other take out orders filled while we waited. Staff didn’t appear to care, didn’t apologize for the missed order or the subsequent hour plus wait for our food, didn’t offer any recommendation for the extremely poor service. The credit card was billed at time of order via online and confirmed pick up time text was received. Very disappointing and will not return again.

The food was lukewarm, rice was hard, and overpriced. I could not stomach more than one plate and had to pay almost 20$ for it. Also had to wait a while to even pay, as there was no one out by registers. Contemplated walking out, but my morals held me back. Not satisfied.

If you’re craving a taste of the Himalayas, Himalayan Yak in Fargo has you covered! Their vegan options were a treat, packed with flavor and generous portions that could easily serve multiple people – perfect for sharing! While I loved the main dishes, the vegan dessert options left me wanting more variety. Fargo itself is a small town with minimal things to do, so a cozy, affordable spot like this is a gem worth trying if you’re in the area!

I guess one of the main reasons my wife and I come to the Himalayan Yak, other than we enjoy Indian food, is they are open Mondays. I did enjoy the old location on 25th a little better than this location.
The Himalayan Yak has a nice but small lunch buffet. We spent approximately 36 dollars between the two of us which included the full buffet and a drink.
You seat yourself when you walk in and don't pay until you are ready to leave. The food is generally good, warm to hot, although a few of the dishes could use a little more flavor, especially the Chicken Tikka Masala. I don't mean spicy hot, I am talking about bland versus flavorful.
It would also be nice if the Naan Bread would be brought out fresh and hot and offered at the tables rather than sitting in a warmer on the buffet. I have seen this done at a few Indian buffets in larger cities.
If you have not tried the Himalayan Yak I definitely would suggest you give it a try.

Buffet Food had very little heat-spice to the dishes. Fine for a buffet lunch, but I'll go to Passage or Taj for a plate with some heat any day.

I've tried a few different dishes at Himalayan Yak, and everything is delicious. The chicken vindaloo, the beef biryani, and the tandoori chicken are all delicious. You can get your dish as spicy as you like, from mild on up. I order mine 2x extra hot. You do you.

Ẁe went for the lunch buffet in hopes of trying a variety of dishes. We have ordered out once before and the food was fabulous. We wanted to see what else we would like to order in the future, without having to buy a meal and take a chance of not liking what we ordered. So we decided on trying the buffett. There was no variety to the buffet. No choices like in the menu for spicy food. So $20 per person for a lunch buffet with no variety was not worth it. We were very disappointed and wished we just ordered take out again. So much for exploring new things. No wait staff check on you during buffet hours. You simply get your food and soda at the buffet and pay as you leave. I would of loved to have a glass of water as i do not drink soda.

The Himalayan Yak has some of the best food in the Fargo Moorhead area. I frequent this restaurant and always enjoy my food. I also appreciate the wide variety of delicious vegan options! If I have friends or family visiting I always bring them here! I would highly recommend to anyone!

I was driving to Grand Forks and looked for Nepalese restaurant in Fargo and saw this restaurant Himalayan Yak. Was closing time, on Thursday, August 18th and ordered takeout dinner veggie fried rice and chicken momo. Food was delicious and on Tuesday, August 20th, I had flight from Fargo to Washington DC. I went for a buffet lunch at 11 am. Many items for buffet for both veg and non veg. Food was delicious, no much oily, spicy or hot. I highly recommend anyone traveling around Fargo and Grand Forks to go and try the food there. Once you enter the restaurant, you feel like Nepal, the country of Mount Everest and Yak as they have decorated the restaurant in such a way. Prices were very reasonable.
