Golden Bowl | Chinese Restaurant

I’ve been going to Golden Bowl / house of Hunan as Michael and Rose have owned both for years. Recently back in town I ordered from here. Worst food ever. Lo and behold I found out Michael is no longer the owner. Food is horrible and will never return. Gross and not even enable. Sad so see it go down hill. Was my favorite place to eat. Place smelled like sewage too.

This was my first time ordering from Golden Bowl.
First of all- The young man who brought my “to go” order out was awesome!!
The crab Rangoons were very good!
Then it went downhill fast!
Kung Pao chicken- pretty awful. It lacked the spiciness expected & the sauce lacked taste & had a vinegar like sourness to it- no heat at all.
Cashew chicken unfortunately was not good either. The sauce resembled ketchup, both in looks & taste, and the dish was lacking the spices one expects in Chinese cuisine.

Good food for the price. Portions are great. Their online menu has a good selection of vegetarian and traditional orders. You also get two crab Rangoon with each order!

Super disappointed we moved out of Bellevue last year and came to visit and came due to my husband missing peanut butter chicken as that not at all sold by us. Everything was super dry, chew texture off my guess everything was reheated not made fresh. I got the combination platter shrimp beef and chicken. Beef and shrimp super chewy like rubber, chicken fall apart dry. So sad but we will not be coming back probably it used to be such an amazing place.

Amazing peanut butter chicken, crunchy crispy outside, even after delivery. Love the peanut sauce and the crab rangoon was my favorite crispy kind.... Yummy sweet and sour homemade sauce! Husband loved the General Taos. Super friendly staff... The reviews and high 4's and 5 star reviews are no joke. My only not so great thing was the fried rice. Thanks!!

I don't normally leave negative reviews, but this time I have to because they need to focus on their food. Everything they fried tasted like it was fried in stale oil. Even after only eating a few spoonfuls, I still had the bitter taste of bad oil in my mouth an hour later. The rice didn't taste like regular fried rice. I've tried dozens of Chinese restaurants, but this one wasn't anything like the usual.The only good thing was the kindness of the young boy who served us.

We are so happy to have finally found a local place for our Chinese food! Everything is fresh and the owners are wonderful! Best wonton soup and the hot garlic sauce is a new favorite of my husband! I am from NYC so I have been looking for good Chinese food here, so happy to find Golden Bowl! A+++

I have ordered General Tso's Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice and Pepper Chicken from this restaurant and I was very happy with all three of them, but especially the General's Chicken. I have been searching for years for a high quality Chinese restaurant, and I have finally found it. The chef used to work over at The House of Hunan and he has perfected his recipes over the last thirty years. Back in the early '90s I used to eat at Hunan Express, on Leavenworth, and House of Hunan, on Center St., and they were some of the best experiences I ever had at Chinese restaurants. Eating at the Golden Bowl is truly a pleasure and it takes me back to those times in my life that I thought were gone forever. Yes, it really is that hard to find high quality Chinese food...really, sadly enough.

Food was delicious, the Lo mein was absolutely amazing, it honestly has to be the best Lo mein I’ve ever had! I would definitely recommend eating here if you love Chinese food or food in general, and the portions are huge 10/10 would recommend!
