Best breakfast spot for those craving short-order, diner style breakfast. Zero pretense, great portions for the price. 10/10

If you want flavor, this place is not for you. I ordered a French dip sandwich and there was absolutely no cheese the meat was unseasoned and dry and just fell out of the bun. The catfish was also unflavored the fries were too. I chalked this up to hospital food.

Wish you would use doordash. Would probably order every meal with you. Have been looking for a restaurant like yours, especially since you have liver and onions also!

What's 'special' about the Special? Not the inadequate parking, the outward lack-luster appearance, and undistinguished interior. But the food and service are great! Our group of ten were in a smaller separate room and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The two female servers were very pleasant, had a sense of humor, and very attentive and efficient. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Since Omaha is reputed to be the home of the reuben sandwich, I ordered one here. Moist, tender, and tasty. Delicious! It actually was among the best I ever had. I ordered onion rings which also were excellent: flaky, tasty, and not over-cooked. All reasonably-priced, too. An incident that did not directly affect our group was quite well-handled. We heard a crash and thump in the bar area. At first I thought someone dropped a tray of dirty dishes, but it was an elderly, heavy-set woman who fell off her barstool and hit the bare floor hard. The staff handled it well. 911 was immediatly called. The first-responders arrive relatively quickly. Since the customer fell near the entry doors, the challenge was to keep the way clear, and preserve some privacy (and dignity) for the patron. Eventually she was taken away. It was handled as best as they could during a busy lunch hour. Well done! That was special.
Facility- typical bar and grill, lighting is a little dark making the whole restaurant alittle dingy. Many booths and tables with a separate party room. Staff friendly and cordial. Seams to be a popular local gathering place. Lunch today the place is full. Coffee tastes old and burnt. Breakfast sausage links were very good. Coffee $2.99. Many entrees less than $11.⁰⁰. Portions are very large with reasonable prices. Menu photos as of Sep 2025.
