Stopped for breakfast and so glad we did. We got the chicken fried steak meal and the French toast platter. Absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back. Such a fun experience overall. Love the oldies vibe the decor brings. So cute.
Do not eat here!

OMG!!! We were driving through Fremont on the way to Santa Fe. We always try to find the little mom and pop diners because we like to support small business and the food is…more often than not…much better than a chain restaurant. Penny’s DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The amount of food you get for your money was more than we expected and wow was it good. It had an old fashioned diner atmosphere and was rather relaxing. We did have a hard time finding a place to sit…that should tell you something. The staff was polite and checked on us just a few times…just the way we like it. Giving us time to eat in peace and actually enjoy our food and conversation without being interrupted too often. Thank you to all of Penny’s staff for everything!💕🤤
So I order online, 30 min later go to pick up my food and was told by the hostess/cook that she couldn't make my food till I arrived then she stayed my order messed up her computer so she couldn't put my food in at all..? I reminded her that I already paid and she was either going to give me my food or give me my $40 back. She said she couldn't do either so I recommended she call her boss because I was about freak out and the absurdity of this. Her boss OKs her to make my food that I'm now waiting an additional 15 min for. What a load of bs I want a refund for this drama.
Great food will go back next time in Fremont.
A great visit to this amazing restaurant. Have t been there since 2007 when I was stationed in Cheyenne. Jamie and Riley greeted me at the door and got me seated. amazing food amazing service from these 2 wonderful ladies. Thanks for a great meal.

Two of us went in and we were the only customers on a Thursday evening. Arrived before 6:30, and didn't get our food until nearly 7:15. The omelet my friend got was the most unappetizing thing I've ever seen and she said it was not good. My Western Burger was fine but the fries were either overdone or fried in oil way past it's prime. I would not recommend or return!

I would give no stars if that were an option. Two stars are for the potential of it to be a cute place. Our visit on 7/13 was horrific. Upon arrival the shrubs were covered in litter, then the entrance had a huge chunk of concrete missing. Then, upon entering there was only one worker. He was in the midst of a panic attack. After we arrived a larger group came in and he greated them with a head shaking no. We placed our food order, and then watched as he sweat and snot and scratched his bare behind cooking our food. Immediately upon delivery I paid (generous tip-no thank you received) asked for a to go box, left, placed the food on the outside stoop out back..and drove to Village Inn. Seriously, shut down if you can’t provide proper and sanitary service. Really gross.

Arrived at 10:00am on a Saturday with only two other people inside and the woman working seemed extremely rude to the other patrons and took the entire time we were there to not say a word, greet us or ask for our order so we left. We stopped a traveling group of seven people from going inside because of the wait time alone.

Always great to come back to a place with so many memories! Helped open this hotel and dinner when they first came to town. Housekeeping in the hotel by day cook at the diner by night. Food was awesome! Had the triple decker club with the wife. My daughter had the chicken tenders and tots and her boyfriend had a grilled cheese on Texas toast…TEXAS TOAST! A great idea!
Only thing I’d like to see changed is the A/C not as cold at 11:30 at night ??
Parking: Super easy!
Kid-friendliness: Great kids menu!
Wheelchair accessibility: No steps anywhere.

** ATTENTION***
My wife and I were there at 10am on Saturday 6/15/24. As we were driving there, we were hoping there wasn't going to be too long of a wait to get seated. As we pulled into the parking lot, there was a woman sitting in front of the entrance on a chair smoking a cigarette. We parked and had to walk around her to enter the glass door into the diner. She yelled back at us as we passed her "You can sit anywhere..." Just as we stepped inside, a homeless looking male walked out and said "I need to go get some change!" We noticed, we were the only patrons inside, and we walked table to table to find a clean one, but couldn't. We chose the least filthy booth. The woman who was smoking finally came inside and got us some room temp coffee. As we sat there, a large spider crawled across our table, so i smashed it with a coffee creamer. The homeless dirty male re-entered the diner and walked into the kitchen. The smoker female and him were the only two employees. Then as we looked at the window sill, there was a massive graveyard of insect carcasses (approx 100+) that looked as if it had been like that for a decade. The floor under our booth was caked in years of dirt and bugs. The blinds had dead bugs on each louver. We still thought maybe we could tough it out. We both ordered the Sunrise Breakfast skillets. Food was soaked in grease, and my wife immediately found a hair (or spider leg in her food) she tried to push past it and keep going, but then I pulled a 6" black hair from my skillet when I was about 1/2 way into it. Both of our stomachs turned. The smoker waitress said "how was your food?" as I was fishing the long hair out from under my food. I replied "Not good, there is hair in our food!" She replied "at least it ain't mine..." I told her I'm disgusted and can't eat another bite. Then she gave us the bill for full amount of $45, and didn't say a word. My wife left her full meal and coffee and I left half a meal and coffee.
Someone NEEDS to shut this place down for good!!!!! Maybe they don't want business?
