Fun drive through if you're around and want some coffee

Barista's is Kearney's best coffee shop — by far! The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable about their menu, and they offer a big menu variety. I recommend their "dirty" iced chai tea, which is a shot of espresso with chai tea.

What's not to like? It's a coffee shop in a decommissioned car wash. My car is still dirty but I got a delicious jomococcino out of the veal.

I’ve stopped at this location before and always had great service, but today took the cake! The coffee, as usual, was delicious. The service and atmosphere - full of love and light! The gentleman at the window asked about our plans for the day and I told him my daughter had softball and he was so upbeat and energetic about an event he truly had no interest in. Then, the other gentlemen who delivered our coffees wished my daughter good luck at her softball games today. It truly is the little things that make the difference.

Best Chai in town. (I don’t drink coffee) I have been going here since the beginning! It’s always a great meeting spot for friends, a pick me up in the middle of the day or a warm cup on a cold day. My grown girls never miss an opportunity to have a Baristas drink. They grew up being spoiled with the best.

admitting to underpaying staff is enough to not recommend a place.

I ordered coffee and an extra toasted bagel with extra butter and cream cheese. Silly me, I expected the butter and cream cheese to actually be on the bagel (which was extra toasty), but they weren't. I didn't get extra butter and it was a messy experience trying to do it myself while trying to butter and add the cream cheese while driving because there was no place to add it while parked there. I finally had to park a distance away from them to finish the job. The food wasn't any different from any place else. The coffee was horrible. Sadly, I won't be visiting that place again.

As anyone who's read my other reviews knows, one of my favorite things to do when I'm out on the road is search for local coffee shops to try out. My experience is that they're friendlier and the espresso drinks are better. That is what led me to Barista's Daily Grind on 2nd Avenue. I'm going to stop my narrative here and just make a disclaimer. I am not an uber coffee snob. I once suspected that I might be but upon the discovery of certain over-the-top YouTubers of coffee-porn fame, I realize that I'm rather lowbrow on the scale of coffee snobs. Upon entering, I noted two signs hanging above opposite sides of the counter. One read "ORDER HERE" and the other "PAY HERE." I approached the place to order. Not wanting to start off on the wrong foot, or man 'splain to a barista, I started with an apology then asked her if she knew what a flat white was. Almost without looking up, she informed me that it was basically a latte and that's all they made there. You don't make flat whites? On second thought, I apologize for my apology. Completely unwarranted. Brief summary: for simplicity's sake and without getting into steamed milk, frothed, vs microfoam, a cortado is made with equal parts espresso to milk / cream. A flat white has about a two- (even three-) to-one ratio espresso to milk / cream. A latte has up to three times more milk or cream than a flat white. A cortado smacks you in the face with espresso boldness and flavor, a flat white showcases it but more gently. A latte buries the coffee flavor...even without syrups. That said, my game was coffee...not wanting to argue the point or make a big deal in the middle of a busy morning at a busy coffee shop. I asked for a latte. No syrup, thank you. I then stood there awkwardly until I realized that I was still standing under the "ORDER HERE" sign and not moving along to the "PAY HERE" sign. I stepped several feet to the right and politely waited. Not. One. Person. Acknowledged my presence. I was utterly ignored. I watched two women make the drinks, a third bounce back and forth between the windows on either side of the small building for drive-through customers. None looked at me, let alone smiled? None said, "Give us just a second, we'll be right with you." In the meantime another customer had come in, ordered and then I watched as she handed cash to the uninformed barista (who seemed to be the shift lead judging by the behavior of the other two women). Now confused, I stepped back leftward and asked where I should pay. Under the PAY NOW sign. Hm. Confusing, but okay. I stepped back to my spot. Without anyone further acknowledging my presence. At a certain moment, a drink was placed in front of me. A latte, I assumed by the art in the foam. Mine, I assumed. After standing there several more minutes, I simply took the ceramic cup and went to a couch to enjoy it. Was it good? I don't know...I guess. It was a heavily-redacted espresso flavor due to the overwhelming cream flavor. A lot hides behind almost two cups of breve. Had I been greeted with even a modicum of friendliness? When it's busy, it's hard to be overly so. But even enough to not feel completely unseen? I would have given this probably a three- or four-star review. Because it wasn't awful espresso. It just wasn't what I wanted and it was undistinguishable from a latte from Starbucks. But the coup de grace was when one of the two baristas walked back in from the front of the shop where, apparently, she'd delivered a drink to a waiting customer. I neither know nor care why she delivered it out the door vs. at one of the drive-through windows. But as she walked toward the other barista behind the counter, she said for all to hear. "That woman was buried so far in her phone! She would not look up. Completely ignored me." At that very moment, I was done. I couldn't drink one more sip of their middling latte.
