Central Mercantile feat. Ktown Cakery

Originally was going in for a treat to this place and immediately got hooked on their desserts.

We decided to try out a lunch here recently and overall the food was enjoyable.

Trying to get through here can be a little tight and the tables do seem to not be that friendly to taller people.

The food that I got was a BBQ chicken pizza. It was mostly enjoyable though I wish the top would have been a little crisp. Would also be nice if there was maybe Monterey Jack or pepper jack on the cheese blend as on some of the parts of the pizza it felt more like a unflavored blob then any actual flavor. I saw that because it didn't seem like the chicken was seasoned on it, but more of a chunk chicken topping. Sauce they use is sweet for sure, and that kind of can overpower the other flavors.

Crust was pretty thin but still enjoyable though, so that was nice.

Overall the price was high for the quality but I feel like they still can always improve. One thing for sure though is they have completely knocked it out of the park with their cheesecake. Absolutely incredible and worth a slice every single time.

One thing that was absolutely wild to me though was the men's bathroom. It was dirty and the seat looks like it was barely ever cleaned with rust spots on it and around the toilet, but the true shocker here is how low the ceiling is and that there is a literal bar that is easily hit by almost any adult head.

We will still come here in the future, but its good to have options like this in town.

Always amazing food options whether you need lunch, ice cream, or want a baked good item. The cinnamon rolls are the best in town! And I love the turkey, bacon, ranch wrap for lunch. It's a great place to shop too; for gifts or items you need at your own house.

Cute shop with ice cream and a bakery inside. They had a lot of coffees and teas and kitchen items. A good selection of things! The kids that worked there was super nice! The monster cookie sandwich lasted me days!

Ordered Macchiato. It was prepared on automated Jura Z10. Was mostly hot water. Requested the staff to check. They prepared a fresh one stating that the settings might have been off. Also offered extra shot of espresso. Bottomline, would not recommend Macchiato or Z10 automatic coffee maker.

There was a lady that she greeted us. That was nice. I got 2 macaroons (pistachio) and a coffee cheesecake. The macaroons tasted old, super old. And the cheesecake was decent, not the greatest, but it was okay.

I had a cake made for my daughter's baby shower. It looked just like the picture I gave them and also was very delicious. Their service was top notch. Grab a toffee coffee muffin when you're there. They are incredible!

Food was very tasty. Great place for ice cream and desserts. I had the tomato basil soup - delish, the bread and chocolate chip cookie that came with it was yummy and filled me up. The raspberry iced tea was okay. It says lightly sweetened but basically unsweetened for my tastes. 🙃

Things to know- order and pay at the counter. Tips appreciated. There is seating in the front window of the mercantile and in the back of the store. You can get water, napkins, et cetera in the area at the back of the store.

The mercantile has some really cool kitchen stuff, cute towels, specialty tea, coffee, and olive oil/vinegar areas.

Great place to stop in. Look forward to going back when I am next in Kearney.

Took about ten minutes for someone to get interested in taking my lunch order. I ordered a Margherita Flatbread. Cheese was melted but the flatbread was very soggy and underdone. Not good flavor. Came with a cookie of a flavor that I couldn’t identify and very bland. Also very expensive for a lunch. Don’t recommend.

This is one of the best places to grab breakfast, lunch or any dessert. I haven’t tried them all, but it’s definitely a goal of mine. The ice cream was at one time UNL Dairy, I’m not sure if it still is, but it is fantastic as well. The butterscotch is the best. I was in there a couple of years ago admiring a tiered chocolate cake. When I went to purchase the cake, the owner told me that she couldn’t sell it to me in good faith because it was old. She gifted me the cake! Not just a discount, the whole cake. I couldn’t believe it. We would have never known it wasn’t fresh baked. It was the best cake we’d ever had! Now it’s our go to place for cake. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes to get lost in a cool store. They have a little of everything for the kitchen.

Super cute place! They had lots of variety. All the treats were very tasty! The two girls that were there working were very helpful and friendly!
