Absolutely love this place. Top notch restaurant all the way through. Some of the best food I’ve had in Lincoln Restaurants. Vast wine selection. Very comfortable environment. Feels like being in someone’s home.

Got in early for 630 reservation. Got seated at 715. Didn't get waited on for 20 minutes for drinks or anything . Waitress was curt. Food we ordered they were out. The food we ordered took 35 minutes to get to us. Food was barely warm. Miserable

Edited review, return experiences have continued to be positive as the restaurant stays creative and values customer experience. Couples dinner special was exceptional, quality service, well prepared food. Will return and recommend for others.

My friend and I visited the restaurant last Sunday, our first time trying it since I am new to town. Once the hostess sat us, he returned shortly after to give us water and mumbled something about only two and quickly walked away. After looking around to try and figure out what he was saying l, we realized there was only 2 servers working that night and the restaurant was busy, no problem. We patiently waited and conversed while waiting for the waitress to make her way to our table. When she did she was rude and already put out, no problem…she’s probably overwhelmed. We thought when things slowed down her attitude towards us would change, unfortunately that never happened. Every encounter was just as rude as the next. We ordered wine and a charcuterie board (pass on this. It was sliced cheese and prosciutto from Sam’s) and then we ordered a fig and goat cheese pizza (which was amazing). However, shortly after bringing us the pizza all of the kitchen staff came out and sat down at the bar….ww thought maybe that’s just what they do when it’s slow and close to closing. It was a little after 8pm, before we came we looked up the hours of operation on the internet it said 9. However, over hearing them talking rudely about us we went to their website and it just listed them being open until close. When we got up to leave our bar table around 8:30 we saw the restaurant was empty. Had anyone told us that they were closing, we wouldn’t have ordered the pizza or another glass of wine…but no one did. They just talked shit about us loud enough so we could hear.

An exquisite meal!
We started with Wicked Eggs and ended with Better Than Sex Cake.
Fig and Apple Bruschette, a regular type of Bruschette, a House Salad, Lobster Bisque, and whipped potatoes were shared by all.
We will be back, soon!

Cool atmosphere, lots to look at. We enjoyed an old fashioned (cubes rather than a single large ice), a cab from Chile (tasty, fruity, happy), crab cakes (3 meaty cakes (good but could use a touch more of an interesting flavor or zip), fig salmon with butternut risotto (pretty tasty), meatballs in marinara (good), stuffed mushrooms (good) & creme brulee (texture was a bit off, not creamy & it was a bit over sweet). I'm personally a creme brulee snob 🤷‍♀️.
Overall, a good experience! (I forgot to take more pics!)

Sadly, our experiences here over the past 20 or so years have ranged from very good to quite poor. The latter being the trend. Based on this, and on our latest visit where more than one problem occurred and only the minimum of apologies were proffered, we will not be going back. Especially at the price/portion ratio. Additionally, I sent an email to the published Yahoo account last week regarding an issue with a gift card we had tried to use and have gotten no response.

Atmosphere and decor is unmatched, probably the best in Lincoln! Food is pretty darn awesome - sometimes a little too salty (chicken) or a bit too charred (steak) but overall just delightfully yummy. Wines are generously poured and high quality. Veggies are thoroughly cooked and soft, the broccolini being a highlight.

My only disappointment? I almost never receive eye contact from the waitresses. It's very rare that I do -- my husband always gets all the engagement (even when he stays quiet and tries to navigate the waitress toward me). Yes, he is a white boy, and yes, I am Hispanic. Surely, your staff can make eye contact with everyone at the table? You can do it, Carmela's, we believe in you! Serve manners and humanity consistently to everyone, and your frequent patrons will appreciate it very much.
