Koen Japanese BBQ & Sushi

Amazing quality! Kids loved it and can't wait to go back!

I judge places based on their crab rangoons, and this place had probably the best rangoons I've had in the U.S.
We got the Koen Special and some special sushi rolls; probably ordered too much food, but couldnt stop eating because every part of the meal was amazing. Our server, Lance, was also just as phenomenal as the food was.

Highly recommend.

Food quality is terrible. I'm not sure where it went wrong but I assume management or lack there of. Don't bother having a cocktail as they don't know how to make it plus it takes a very long time.

I used to love eating here. When greeting the table the server never introduced herself and went directly to ask what we want to drink and not even a simple greeting. It took over 15 minutes for me to get my pina colada drink which didn’t even come with all of the toppings. Then my server let me know management said we had to spend over $27 in bbq to turn on the grill when we had spent money on sushi and other entrees. That just put a bad taste in my mouth. I will not be returning here.

This place has been my favorite place to go out to eat for 6 years. I will not be returning. Over the last 3 years they have continued to lower their portions multiple times, about a year or 2 ago they also increased the prices on everything though only by a couple dollars. Not only that but the meat itself has lowered in quality, specifically the pork belly. The booths are also too small for anyone over 6 ft. My knees are pushed against the metal bbq bottom and when I requested we be placed in one of the open booths with a chair side i was denied. I ate my entire meal sitting sideways and at the edge of the table. With the total bill at 100 dollars being a week's worth of groceries I would no longer recommend this place. Which is sad as it had for so long been my go to recommendation. 6 years ago the food was so good, the quality amazing, the price more than fair, the staff were so attentive. I dont know what happened a couple years ago but its been downhill since. Save yourself the trouble and go to Sakura, Misty, the Oven. Or for the price you might as well go to dish. Very dissappinted in Koen after this. Ruined our 2 year wedding anniversary. The food is still okay and the staff are nice, but they have a long way to go to return to their former glory.

Have been here many times but not the services are down hill. We never needed reservations before on weekend but today they said they don’t take walk ins. I understand sometimes it could be busy specially on holidays, but the manager’s attitude was like “we always need reservations on weekend” - which is a totally lie!
With such attitude you want to keep a restaurant open?! There are many choices other than your restaurant.

I came here to celebrate my 20th birthday. Im from out of town (Dallas, Tx). I’ve never been able to go to these places in Dallas no matter what day of the week because it’s always busy some places even you have to make reservations months in advance. When I entered I was immediately drawn to the nice decor by the front door. We sat down and I had asked many questions about what the meal comes with, how to cook, etc. Our waiter Zen was very patient with me and answered every single one with a smile. When he put the piece of fat to start the fire I had said to my mom “Gosh I wish I got that on video”. He heard me and was like “I can do it again you ready?”. Towards the end there was another birthday and all the lights got turned off and upbeat music got played while the waiters went to clap and celebrate. I saw it and my mom later asked if we could get it for me. I kinda felt bad because there was 3 birthdays they did back to back and I can’t imagine how loud they gotta be for each one but Zen, Justus ,Khoa came out with my dessert being all loud and peppy bringing the best energy. The food was absolutely amazing and the experience was 11/10. We ended up tipping $40 thats how amazing this place is which this is the largest tip I’ve ever given( we were a group of 3) but they deserved it. Now each time I fly out to Nebraska there is no way I’m leaving without coming here. If Zen, Justus, and Khoa are reading this I just wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made my 20th birthday unforgettable!! 💜✨

Took my roommate out for her birthday, we had a wonderful time. Staff was fantastic and food was absolutely amazing!

Worst experience ever. Told us 15 minutes AND 45 minutes later we got a table.THEN we sat for 20 to 30 minutes before any staff came to our table. We even made a reservation. First experience with Japanese cuisine and it was beyond disappointing!!!

Came here for a small group get together. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Most of us ordered sushi and we all enjoyed our food. I forgot to take pictures of everything, but here are photos of just some of the foods we had. Lobster and crab Rangoons were so delicious 😋 I forgot to take photos of all the sushi rolls we got. And we ordered the lava cake and fried cheese cake for dessert- both were such a treat!
