Big fans of Rutabagas in all of their incarnations (food truck, storefront, pop ups). Delicious food and great vibe. Had a great catering experience with them as well — creative and very responsive.

My first fully vegan burger! I chose the Cowgirl Burger for the variety of ingredients.
First impression was ok, and the flavor only got better from there. I can honestly say that while it was not like eating a 'meaty beef burger', it was equally satisfying in a different way. More importantly, when I finished the burger, I felt like I had eaten a really good burger. Not a vegan burger, or a vegetable burger, just a good burger.
I would highly recommend this to any vegetarian or vegan burger fans. I'd also recommend it to any adventurous people out there who just want to find out what a really good non-beef burger can taste like.
My wife also really enjoyed her Banh Mi Sandwich.

Absolutely stellar food that happens to be vegan. In my pic, don’t judge the middle one as I’d already had a good bit of it before I thought to take a pic.

If you find yourself in Lincoln do yourself a favor and stop in. Could not have been better. The middle dish was particularly eaten so don’t judge that part of the pic. Updated from previous review on 2025-11-29

Super friendly staff and fantastic food with great variety. The burgers are delicious and the Mac and Cheeze was excellent- even the gluten free version. We tried both and I honestly could not tell the difference. We also got the Cubano because of the rave reviews and it definitely lived up to the recommendation! Everything was great and we will definitely be back!

Eat here if you want a cheeky party in your mouth. I recommend the monster mac! It has an onion ring and Brussels sprouts! The owner Sara is a pillar of our vegan experience here in LNK and we love all she cooks! The tagline is “comfort food” for a reason. The kitchen is not exclusively vegan because of economic considerations (other businesses) which is unfortunate but everything on the Rutabagas menu is plants only and everything is well marked allergen-wise. A must hit if you are traveling. Get delivery if you have to!

Love their Bahn Mi sandwiches!

Looking for the tastiest burgers on the planet? None of that prefab [censored] here. Only the best quality made-in-house pattys are served in this charming and wonderfully decorated establishment. In fact, it seems that the entire menu needs devouring at some point, and so this will now be my go-to eats for the rare times I'm in Lincoln. Also, be sure to order some nachos....

We ate at the restaurant on 70th St. and I'm blown away. I always get a veggie burger when I try any new veg restaurant, and the Ruta-Original is unquestionably one of the best veggie burgers I've ever eaten in 35 years of being a vegetarian; the texture was perfect, the flavor was rich without attempting to emulate meat, and the sauce made me willing to do without ketchup (and I hardly ever go without ketchup!). The people working were super friendly and the atmosphere feels like you're hanging in a friend's house.

Where do I even begin — not only is Rutabagas the best vegan food I’ve had in my life, it is really just some of the best food you will find in Lincoln, period. I have been coming here all throughout college. The staff has truly created such a lovely environment and community here in Lincoln. Sara, and everyone else, is just so incredibly lovely and personable. I am going to be away from Lincoln soon for awhile and I already know I am going to miss this place so so much!!!

Tried the Banh Mi Sandwich with Roasted Broccoli and Fried Pickles. The pickles were fantastic, the sandwich was pretty good, and the staff were friendly.

Hard to pick from this menu. We got the fried pickles, nachos, and crab Rangoon nachos! All were amazing! Looking forward to trying the two macaroni dishes tomorrow!!
