I want to like this place so bad. It’s cute and the staff is generally friendly. Unfortunately, they can’t seem to consistently deliver their core product.
The espresso is frequently bitter. Initially I thought they just needed time to nail down bean roast, grind, machine, etc. but this is an ongoing issue. More often than not it tastes over extracted.
Hoping it would be easier, I also ordered an iced matcha latte. The server said it was more “traditional style” which I thought promising. Instead I got unfrothed matcha with four pumps of syrup. I wasn’t expecting the highest grade matcha, hand frothed with a bamboo whisk - but come on. A super sweet iced milk with some green color tossed in is not remotely close to acceptable. Paying $7 for it was more insult to injury.
This place could be awesome and I recommend checking it out, but I can’t justify paying for inconsistent/low quality.

came here to get an iced honey latte w almond milk before driving a few hours and this place is really nice!! super cozy. i'm also very particular about my alternative milks (califia is my preferred brand) and they use califia for oat/almond! really happy abt this choice. also my 16oz latte (w/ alt milk) was only like $5.50 which is really cheap compared to most places
Great food and service.
Mostly self service. Coffee pick up is on the right of the ordering counter. They bring the food to the table if you are dining in. Due to self service and pick up you can see a lot of people waiting for their order in the front.
Restrooms: Unisex, one on the left of the ordering counter and another in a corner of the big dining area.
Resources: There is a station for the water, silverware, and napkins underneath big sunset painting.
Service: The girl who took our order was very friendly. Other people were dead serious about their work without smiles on their face. Perhaps because it was a busy Friday morning for them.
Atmosphere: love the plants in the dining area.

This place is a gem! Delicious espresso and sandwich. Lots of gluten free options. I did the veggie panini with gfree bread. I asked them if they could wrap the bread in foil or something to toast so they took precautions for cross contamination and reiterated it when they brought it out! The sandwich was more delicious than I expected. Everyone was super friendly and it was a lovely space. Highly recommend!!

Such a great coffee shop that I would absolutely frequent if I lived in town. The drinks were tasty, the menu was creative, the customer service was top notch, and the atmosphere was perfect!

Can’t wait to return to North Platte and visit The Espresso Shop. The Espresso Shop is a lovely and spacious coffee cafe in downtown North Platte. What I love about this place is the perfectly medium espresso roast.
Here are the deets and what I tasted:
Roast: medium
Notes: toasty + a hint of mocha
Taste: a little crema, with no bitterness, acidity or aftertaste
While in town, I came almost daily 😋. Their espresso can stand on its own but I love to dress 👗 mines up.
Here is what I ordered while in town for a couple of weeks:
vanilla oat milk latte 12 oz
blackberry + vanilla oat milk latte 16 oz
vanilla + rose oat milk latte 16 oz
I also ordered an avocado toast with hummus and fried egg which was super delicious.
I recommend a 12 oz to really enjoy the flavor of the espresso. As a city girl, I can appreciate a real deal coffee shop in a small town.
The owners and staff are lovely. You may have to wait in line because it is a local favorite, but they are professional and diligent to get your order taken and I highly recommend The Espresso Shop Coffee and can’t wait to return.

I live in Lincoln, NE but my family is still in NP.. This is my number one must-stop spot when I’m in town for a visit! I was there 6/28/25..last day of Nebraskaland Days and boy was it busy at 11:00am!! Line out the door busy! My sister and I were so proud of this staff for still being so kind and accommodating and keeping quality as top priority. They may have been overwhelmed on the inside, but you couldn’t tell on the outside. Thanks Espresso Shoppe for being such a special spot in NP that brings so much joy. When can we expect you to open a location in Lincoln?? ;)

CHANGE TO TEMPORARILY CLOSED IF YOU ARE NOT OPEN JUNE 29-JULY 6
Stopped in for breakfast on our way through town. We got the sausage egg and cheese on a croissant, everything bagel with cream cheese, and pistachio cream latte. Everything was so good!! Especially the latte, it truly tasted like pistachio, not just artificial flavoring!
