Came here very excited to try a DDD location - the flavor of things was good, but nothing amazing. The fried chicken wasn’t crispy at all and seemed like it had just been re-warmed. With that, they were somehow out of fried chicken by 12:30 on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was empty, so not sure how/why that could happen. It took our group over 30 minutes for everyone to get their food and it wasn’t hot when it did come out so again not sure why. Servers were friendly and space/area is nice.

I liked it but it could be better. Good price point but a little high on some items. The cabbage was very cold. And we all know it's hard to take food back! Confusing if it is your first time, could use better signage. This is one of those times I'm not sure what to say ... Nothing was bad, just wasn't exciting!

I think that somewhere in here could be some excellent food. Was excited to try it out after seeing it on several food network shows. The chicken was cold, the corn bread was cold, the red beans and rice were flavorless. If someone who actually cared to take on this institution and make the standards top notch it could be amazing.

I was at the KAPD event at girls inc., by far one of the BEST catered events I've ever had. Smoked chicken, seasoned green beans, the lasagna pasta, Mac and cheese, and cornbread were fire.🔥

Food was average service was slow.
Corn bread could have been warm and the amount of honey butter you get was very minimal like pea sized. I would have appreciated more.

Gladys at Big Mamas is an icon in the north Omaha community. Her food is authentic delicious, and comes from the heart. The cornbread was insanely delicious. The turkey moist and tender. A unique cornbread stuffing that I couldn’t stop eating. The Mac n cheese was so creamy and perfectly cooked. Please support this local business. Not only is Gladys a great chef but an even better person.

As a native southerner…YES. Chicken is moist, juicy and flavorful. Cornbread is soft and sweet—no crumbling! Cabbage and black eyed peas also amazing. And the mac and cheese is cheesy and delicious. It’s not as salted as I like, but that’s great for people who can’t have as much salt, and a salt shaker is all I needed to make this meal absolute perfection.

Brought my wife and kids to eat here for the first time last week. Food was beyond perfect and delicious. Time out used to be my favorite chicken but Big Mama's blew them out the water. Best chicken by far anywhere. Mac & Cheese was a little disappointing, tasted like canned. Now the Collard Greens, bruh I'd go here JUST for them COLLARD GREENS again and again.
Corn bread was ok. I look forward to eating here more often, please please consider being open more often. Thanks yall

I have never liked Catfish until I tried Big Mama's which is unbelievably good without any stinky fishy taste.
I would have rated this five star but when I did the tip it was based on the restaurant fee plus tax which in the end would be a 30% tip on a $32 meal for two people. Since you place your order at the counter and then are called back to pick up the order a 30% tip is overboard.
