Meatloaf was awesome. Chicken n Dumplings, not sure what the dumplings really were. Not good at all. Apple slices were good and turnip greens meat taste like old/bad meat. I ordered your cherry sprites and came with no ice. I was shocked. Disappointed I'd say. Sorry.

Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Everyone greatly enjoyed their meals.
I ordered grilled chicken, sweet potato, fruit and vegetable soup. This used to be a great place for soup, but, no longer. The soup and chicken arrived cold. Most of my husband's order was cold as well like the orders had been sitting awhile before they brought them out. I doubt we will return any time soon.

The food is typically good here, and we were not disappointed on this visit. What stood out was the professional and courteous service by our server who was covering many more tables than usual due to a server walk-out. She was generous, friendly, and as fast as she could be in spite of a tremendous workload.

I have gone to the south 142th st restaurant and have ordered their Southern fried chicken two times and each time thechicken doesn't look as on the menu it looks burned and dark and seems old. On the 21st a man asked how was the food I tried to explain my feelings and he took offense to what I was saying and asked if my Mom chicken looked like that I said the advertising was not true to the product I ordered and then walked away.I will not go there again.

Only once had a subpar waiter, and once a meal not prepped correctly, and thats in 25 years. A sitdown restaurant, silverware, and big menu is a special treat anymore. Pancakes, chicken fried steak, beef roast, biscuits, corn muffins, and baked apples. Going back, certainly!
