Where I had not been there for a while , but things have changed. You now have to buy bread. It does not come with the meal. You have to pay for a salad. It does not come with the meal. I had the veal parmesan and the veal was tough. Veal should not be tough. My husband and sister got fish and they said it was very good.

I had the O.G. Sauce with spaghetti. It was close to the worst pasta I've had. Granted it's a Steakhouse but if offered it should still have bee better than it was. The spaghetti was dry & the "sauce" was just clumps of meat in a really, really thick sauce. My husband's Walleye was acceptable.

Gorat's has lost its luster. It used to feel so warm and inviting. Now, it's cold and echoey with hard floors and barren furnishings. The bar seats are in dire need of reupholstery. Sad to see a classic venue go downhill. The steak was still delicious, and the service was excellent.

Even though the facility itself from outside appears pretty old, but they keep it clean and elegant inside.
I would say, it is a high-end, fancy, and expensive restaurant. But their quality of food matches. I had a sandwich as my brunch today, but wow, it was amazing!
Only a few things I can ask for is; the very uneven… crazily torn paving of the parking lot. Through the sidewalk, it isn’t very good at all for such a great restaurant. Another thing is serving speed; which was very very very slow. I seriously wanted to ask why they took so much time when I only saw us in the restaurant.

Amazing food, service was good but the restaurant was very loud. Still, would definitely recommend this place! We will be back.

This longtime Omaha steakhouse continues to impress! It was our first time here and we can see why it is Omaha staple. The atmosphere is warm and classic — you can feel the history the moment you walk in. Our server, April, was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly and attentive. The food was amazing — the burger was cooked perfectly and full of rich, smoky flavor, and the lobster truffle mac and cheese was pure perfection: creamy, decadent, and packed with lobster. It's easy to see why this spot has been around for so long. Excellent food, top-notch service, and that welcoming Omaha charm. We'll definitely be back!

Last time our family and my son's swimming coach ate here in 2021 - when my son swam at the Olympic Trials at Omaha. The food was great. In October 2025, my wife and I drove from Seattle to Chicago. We decided to make a detour to revisit the stake house. We ordered a cowboy ribeye stake, a Caesar Salad and onion ring. The onion ring was good - the onions were fresh and sweet. The stake was good - medium rare, just the way I liked. As to the Caesar Salad, oh well, they forgot it! We were almost done with the stake, we still hadn't seen the salad. After inquiring with our waitress, she brought out the salad - there was soooo much dressing and cheese in it, the lettuce were stuck together in lumps, and it was soggy. Not good at all. Overall, it was a mediocre experience, prices are doubled compared to 2021.

Always great food and wonderful service. I was slightly disappointed as I wanted an espresso after dinner but was told there wasn't anyone available who knew how to work the espresso maker so I settled for a brewed coffee. Otherwise, a good experience.

It was such a pleasureable experience. We were just a couple passing through, who had been on this road trip 10 days and have eaten through numerous restaurants/diners from NYC to Omaha. The food we had here was probably the best one so far. We shared the huge poterhouse steak which was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. The appetizer (short ribs) and the side dishes we had were also delicious. Everyone was friendly, from the reception area to the servers, even the guests. The price was not bad for the quality and quantity of food provided. Two thumbs up.

This was the first time I wasn't totally pleased with my dining experience at Gorats. The staff was as usual excellent and very accommodating to an individual in our group who was on crutches. All of the food did not seem up to its usual high standards however. A medium rare steak was delivered well done. Two in our group ordered the steak burgers, one medium well and one medium rare. Both were delivered well done and tasted too charred. All pasta was excellent. The chicken parm was perfect. The cocktails were delicious. One of our group was celebrating a birthday. The card on the table and the delicious slice of chocolate cake were such a nice touch and greatly appreciated.

Had been looking forward to eating at this restaurant for awhile. Overall the restaurant was nice, but for a couple on a date night I would consider another option. We order the Whiskey Ribeye and Filet both medium rare. The Filet came out to the table medium and the Ribeye was medium well throughout the cut. The flavor of both steaks however was spot on so we elected to continue, though this was mainly because our waitress did not check on us until we had debated and were half done with our meal. When we were check on and asked about our meal no apology or concern was given when we expressed that both steaks had been overcooked. While friendly our waitress definitely lacked a customer service attitude I would expect when spending $200 for a meal. The cocktails were also over priced ($15 for a makers mark old fashion) and each dish's one side was just average (garlic mashed potatoes with the rib eye and sweet potato for the filet). The wine selection was acceptable but also overpriced given the lack of ambiance and wait staff support. I will likely not be returning for a second meal which is very disappointing given the history of the restaurant.

Steaks were terrible with no flavor. The veggies were bland and overcooked. The salad was mediocre. The best thing I had was the sweet potato.

Restaurant week menu was very well prepared. I enjoyed the rib eye and others enjoyed the salmon. Very noisy in back when a table for 12 started drinking. We will return soon.
