Wow!!!!! Absolutely delicious and service was top notch. My order included French onion soup (very sweet and savory), filet was full of flavor, cream corn & bacon (bacon enough said), purée potatoes, and crème brûlée was just the icing on the cake. I highly recommend J Gilbert’s for all your Omaha steak desires!

The ambiance is beautiful and very cozy. The steak is great however, there was a recent menu change for the dessert. The homemade chocolate cake that used to be on the menu was phenomenal but now they’ve replaced it with a larger cake. I wish they hadn’t done this because that is wayyyy too many calories and also, not everyone wants or likes expresso in their cake. The other chocolate cake, I believe it was the velvet cake, that was originally on the menu was simple but very good. Also, the portion size was just right. I believe it was also served with raspberry ice cream? As a health conscious person, the larger cake is just too much to the point where you would WANT to share it. It’s a bummer that they switched out the previous for the newer one. The newer one doesn’t look appealing to me and I love chocolate by the way.
The food was outstanding but what really made our evening was our waiter, Mr Wagner. He was awesome- when we go back we will request him- great service, great personality. He is quite an asset to J Gilbert's!
The food was delicious and portions were very generous we were quite full. The price fixe menu is a fantastic deal and would highly recommend.

Blake steered me in the right direction no pun intended. 14 oz Ribeye was the most flavour steak I had in a long time. Great Char and seasoned perfectly. Smoked Old fashioned’s are their specialty you have to try one!

Excellent steak, scallops, appetizers and service. Food was just superb, from start to finish. Luxurious experience, high quality ingredients, and every aspect was top notch - I highly recommend their ribeye, cheesy grits, and creme brûlée! If you aren’t local this would be an excellent representation of Omaha! Currently trying to find an excuse to have a special night out to go back again lol. We loved it.

We were seated upstairs. I had a full martini which wasn't full by the time I got to my table.
Great place

This was one of the best steaks I have had in a while. Seasoned well, cooked over a wood fire, and served nice and warm. The prix fixed menu was perfect as well, with both a fillet and a ribeye offering. While in town on business, we actually dined here twice.

Ate at the Omaha, Nebraska location on 7/27/25. The cake is amazing and the Mac-n-cheese is outstanding. The steak is not good. Went there recently on a trip and the service was really good. I ordered a $69 steak the inside of the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare like I like it, but the steak was so grisly and tough it was hard to eat. It was also so charred on the outside that you could hardly chew or cut it. I had such high expectations of the restaurant, but was utterly disappointed and saddened by my steak. I could have gotten a much better steak from a chain steak house like Texas Roadhouse, Outback, Logan’s, or even Longhorns. For the price I paid for the steak it should have been much better. Would never return here again.

Truly memorable experience. Our waiter Cory was knowledgeable and took excellent care of us. Steak was seasoned perfectly and incredibly tender. The entire meal from salad or soup to dessert was some of the best we have had. Would highly recommend J. Gilbert.
We had the wedge salad and the crab cake appetizer. They were both very good. The crab cakes were moist and very tasty. The restaurant is not cheap.
