Our server was less than friendly and pretty much ignored us most of the time the food was mediocre and the waiter never check back with us to see if everything was okay I was looking forward to La Mesa because usually I have a very good experience there but as of now I probably won't go back for a long time

Never eat here again. Waitress took forever, didn’t refill our water til we were done, never asked about our terrible food either. Carnitas were rubber and the verde was straight out of a can. Chips are burnt too. We asked for new chips and she brought us flour burnt ones that we had to pay for.
Some dishes are great, some are ok. Chips are not the best, especially if not warm (not always fresh). Service is usually good. Atmosphere is nice since the update. Prices have increased like everywhere, so within reason. Overall a good experience.

I would give this place another chance. I was there with friends for dinner, I didn't get a chance to soak in the environment. Next time, I'll request to sit next to the fountain.
