Looking for different fare and having all lunch options in Omaha available, we decided to try Okra African Grill. We both got the egusi soup with fufu, mine with lamb and his with the steak kabobs. The food was distributed behind the glass counter into a bowl from a hot table by a woman in traditional African garb. To us, she wasn't what we'd consider friendly, (I asked if there was goat meat available and was struck down rather curtly) but we were there to try the food, which was absolutely delicious. My husband thought his steak kabobs were slightly tough and wished he'd got the lamb as well, which was melt in your mouth tender. Most of the items were fresh, except for the peppers and onions. They were scraped out as the last remaining bits in the pan in the hot table and I noticed later they had been freshly replenished for the next customers. No big deal, it was overall still very tasty. For a cold day, the hot, savory flavors were very warming and comforting. The fufu was delicious and a different type starch and texture than mashed potatoes. We definitely would go again.

Clean restaurant with very affordable prices worth the plate! I ordered a steak kabob with peanut sauce, veggies and fufu.

It was our first time trying Fufu and Egusi and luckily it was a special that evening. It was everything we had imagined being so flavorful between the stew meat which we chose lamb, the fixings, and the the fufu which completed the stew so well. We will definitely be back!

As an African, I can affirm that this restaurant is doing a great job.
Welcoming atmosphere, delicious Ablo my favorite, I like also the jellof rice.
I've seen people of any other culture enjoying okra foods and natural juices.

I'd been wanting to try African cuisine and this place was recommended by friends and family and they did not disappoint! The owner went over how we could order and was friendly and attentive. The food was very flavorful and tasty. I tried the build your own bowl with jollof rice, steak kabobs, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, fried plantains,
and the spinach sauce. Loved their natural lemonades. I tried the hibiscus and lemongrass lemonade. I look forward to trying other items on the menu during my next visit.

I visited Omaha for a mini staycation and enjoyed everything—from my nail salon visit, hotel stay, massage, shopping, and brunch spot. Before heading home, I stopped at OKRA for some African food because African food never misses!

When I walked in, the restaurant wasn’t busy, which I thought was perfect because I’d have time to look over the menu. I started asking about popular dishes, but right away the owner had a nasty attitude, as if I was bothering her just for asking questions. I brushed it off, figuring maybe she was having a rough day.

I still went ahead and ordered, even tipped 15%, and asked about special sauces I could add to my meals. That’s when she snapped, telling me, “Just read the menu, I don’t have time for it!”

Unfortunately, the food matched the energy—about a 3/10 at best. Nothing stood out besides the fact that it was hot. If you like tomato sauce with no flavor, this might be the place for you, but for me it was very disappointing.

I had the worst experience at Algra African Grill. The customer service was extremely poor, and the food was not fresh at all—soggy and unappetizing. On top of that, the prices were outrageously high for the quality. It was our first visit, and the staff was not welcoming at all. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

I've been wanting to try this place since I moved to Omaha, and it did not disappoint! I've never had fufu before and it's so good - I will be definitely be coming back ASAP.

It is a little pricey, but I got the chicken fufu with peanut butter sauce, and it was pretty filling. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was delicious.

The food is INCREDIBLE. Nina, the owner/chef is an absolute delight to talk to. What a wonderful experience for any meal! I'm sad I've never been here before today.
