Rivera's has excellent food, great drinks, fast service up at the bar, and decent service at a table. If there's anything wrong here it's the hostess. She's rude, miserable, never smiles, grumpy, poor attitude and work ethic. Sadly a really bad first impression of the restaurant. The other sad news is they are closing their doors Oct, 29th 2022. :( I wish this wasn't the case as they are the #1 Mexican restaurant in Omaha in my opinion. I've never been disappointed in the food.If you plan to visit before they close, which I highly suggest, order carry out or plan to wait 2 to 3 hours for a table. There is a line before they even open.Rivera's you most certainly will be missed. :(
I don't often eat Mexican food but when I do, it's at Rivera's. I've eaten here twice in the last week and have been amazed both times by not only the flavor and freshness of the food but also the friendliness of the staff. Be forewarned, there is a line starting well before opening to have the opportunity to enjoy this experience.
My husband and I have not dined at Rivera's in several years. We heard it is closing so we decided to go last Tuesday night. The food was amazing and the service was GREAT, just like years ago. I hate to see this restaurant close. There aren't to many good ones left. I highly recommend.
Last night I tried something new. The Cochinita Pibil. Yucatan spice rub marinated pork shanks. The meat was so tender and flavorful. New item to put in the rotation now.
Probably one of the top 3 restaurants I’ve had in town. The wait is always ridiculously long, but the food makes it worth it. Love coming back every time, the appetizers and entrees and to die for. Maybe they need to move to a bigger spot to accommodate the demand
Chips and salsa-4 starsCrab enchiladas- 2-3 stars. Great when I only got lump crab meat bites, surimi crab really ruined itAcapulco enchiladas- 5 stars. Really good. Loved it.Price- 2 stars. 22$ is pretty overpriced for two enchiladas with rice and beans in a strip mall.Ambiance and service-fine, what you'd expect.Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. It's good, not great, and over priced.
Customer service is amazing.
Loved being able to add my name to the wait list online! The nachos were the bomb with added fresh jalapenos. We all enjoyed our meals. I had the chicken fajitas, the best I've ever had. So flavorful.. can't wait to order them again next time!
We went here tonight for the first time and was very happy with the food and the service.. We will definitely be back again. Love how the rate the heat level on the food there also. Such great flavor. ❤
Excellent quality of food, service, and drinks. This is one of the most consistently good restaurants in town, Mexican or otherwise. The food is always on point, and the service matches that high level of quality. If you are a fan of Mexican food, it's a must try.

We have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in Omaha for FOUR years. We have tried so many different places and all…meh. UNTIL NOW! We ordered 3 different dishes to try and we loved every single one of them. So flavorful, saucy, and tender meat. Not to mention we tried 3 different margaritas and those were all amazing as well. This will be our go to place for Mexican food!Side note: it was crazy busy (Expect a long wait time but sooo worth it!) but the waitress was still attentive and checked on us constantly. Seriously amazing experience overall!
Wow! Just wow! This is Omaha’s best Mexican food and I live in South Omaha. Everything is good: the rice is weirdly really good, the refried beans are tasty and the enchiladas are incredible. However, the sauces they use can be VERY spicy. I really like spicy food and my enchiladas were super spicy. I really loved the flavor, but I was only able to finish one of them. They had a habanero sauce enchilada on the menu and I'm willing to bet that it I probably the most spicy Mexican food to ever sit on a plate. I'm afraid to try it.
Riveras is just so consistently great that it's hard to consider any other Mexican restaurant. Our server Carla was wonderful, the margs were outstanding, and all 4 dishes were superb. Love having this true gem in our neighborhood.
This place is awesome! One of the best places for Mexican food. It is a very busy restaurant but they were quick with all the services. Waiter was friendly. Had the enchiladas with mole and nachos. They offer chips and dip with your order. The size of the servings will not leave you wanting more. But make sure you save room for the sopapillas they are so light and fluffy. But remember to bring a friend to help eat all of this.
A good friend of mine recommended I try Rivera's and I'm glad she did. The Diablo Enchiladas were incredible and the margaritas were great. I think I may have found a new favorite Mexican restaurant.
