The food, when it finally came, was good. Communication between waitstaff and kitchen was rough. I know we were there late on a Sunday, but really!?! We placed our order and waited for a while before we were told they were out of gravy!!!! Waitress came to tell us and then had to go back and get menus when she asked if we wanted to change our orders. She was just not prepared. I really wanted biscuits and gravy, too.

I went there on Saturday and I was waiting to be seated and the help just helped everyone else be seated but me I'm a young black woman and I feel like I was discrimination.i will never come back there again

Stopped in for breakfast and overall had a great experience! The food was really good — classic diner breakfast done right. I especially loved the homemade biscuits; they were warm, flaky, and definitely the highlight of the meal. Their pancakes were also very tasty. Prices were super reasonable, and despite how busy it was, the food came out surprisingly fast.
The only downside was the service. Our server spent a lot of time up front chatting with other staff while the place was completely packed. It didn’t affect how fast we got our food, but it did feel a bit unprofessional and made it hard to get refills or extra items.
But overall, we enjoyed it.

Food was okay. Could have used a tad more gravy in the hash brown dish, could hardly taste it. And the waiter never came by to see if we needed more water. My glass was empty for quite sometime. He finally noticed when he brought our bill.

While it is understandable that places are busy Sunday mornings and I was perfectly happy waiting for a table I was not perfectly happy seeing the young employees not taking part in a teamwork environment and messing around while food on plates stacked in the window and their counterparts were struggling to provide great customer service while waiting tables. Struggling so bad one young lady spoke up and asked them to help, which they ignored. I also was not waiting for a cold omelette, which was probably due to the stacked food in the window- which was not a good sight, or pancakes delivered when I was finished with my meal. My only comment is I'll never return and Shirley's management should do better. I would definitely steer clear if I were you and dine where you are taken better care of.
