Wonderful group experience tonight at Sullivan’s Steakhouse.
We started with our server Oliver’s recommendations; seafood tower, spicy shrimp rolls and Philly cheesesteak rolls, plus a crab cake for the table.
The filet and finishing butter (I had porcini & shallots) was delicious and cooked as ordered. Sides for the table were asparagus, brussel sprouts, lobster macaroni and cheese, and scalloped potatoes.
It’s always a nice meal in a private group room when I visit Omaha.

The spicy shrimp egg rolls were really delicious. The seared scallops were so flavorful and I really enjoyed them. Most of all though Oliver was great! Very attentive and took care of our larger party.

It’s no secret that this place serves amazing food and has a great reputation as a classy place. I had very high expectations going in with reservation on Valentine’s Day…But we immediately got off on the wrong foot. My group and I were all dressed up, myself in a 5 piece suit(and western hat). As we are walking to our table, I was informed by one of the young ladies there’s a dress code, I laughed because I thought she was joking at first I’m pretty sure I was up to snuff, she turns around again and informs me no seriously…. You have to take off the hat before we enter the dining room & points to carpet threshold, as if I would not be permitted to enter. Slightly embarrassed I calmly complied. As we are seated at the closest table to the kitchen… and very awkwardly cramped table, there was no great place to set my hat or anything extra for that matter. It was then brought to my attention that we could’ve checked the hat in the beginning while checking in with the hostess. You can imagine how I felt. Fantastic food, decent service considering the day, but unfortunately an unposted & unrealized “dress code” and less than desirable table with over enthusiastic hostesses enforcing dress codes. Lots of great steakhouses around for the money. Let’s tighten up Sullivan!
