This used to be THE place to go for cake. Unfortunately, our last cake wasn't the same. It was very dry and the frosting was tacky and sickly sweet. Pink champagne has been our family's go to for celebrations, but the rising cost and lowering quality, sadly just won't make it a go-to anymore. Plus, the last couple of times the staff seemed upset or angry that we were there. It was very uncomfortable and we had to wait a substantial time for our cake when no one else was there picking up. Bummed as we really loved what they used to be. I don't think we'll return.

This place is an Omaha classic. Lots of support and love for this business who has been part of our celebrations for decades. ?Kid-friendliness: Literally a "gallery" and super fun for kids to see sample cakes.

I placed an order online. Came to pick up it in store. I walk in and a lady is on the phone with her back to the counter. She does not acknowledge or greet me, understandable as I see she is on the phone but giving me a visible greeting would have been nice. She gets off the phone and tells me, “what can I help you with”. She doesn’t apologize for having me wait for a while or the fact that she never even acknowledged me. I tell her I’m here to pick up a cake. And proceeds to walk away. She then stands on the other side of the counter with a blank stare on her face… so I ask her, is the cake over there… she says “yes”. She shows me the cake, and we find out a word is mispelled. She’s annoyed, doesn’t apologize, looks at the paper, and returns the cake to the back. She comes back about 5min later with the cake, AGAIN, doesn’t apologize and hands me the cake. It looks sloppy…. as you can tell that the wording on the cake had been redone. WHATEVER, at this point I just want to get out of here and never return. She doesn’t explain anything else, I had to ask her about recommendation on cake temp and fridge handling. This review is solely on the customer service of this location. It seems as if they don’t care about customer satisfaction (clearly, as they were okay handing me the sloppiest cake ever) so for that reason Cake Gallery gets 2/5 stars. 2 stars only because the online ordering process was seamless.WILL NEVER RETURN, nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. There are many more cake shops/bakeries in town that would love to have your business with pleasure!

Rude! Dirty! They never have any designs even though it’s pictured on their website. No wonder they are closing.

The Cake Gallery has been our go-to bakery for special occasion cakes forever, and they have never disappointed us! Our favorite cake flavor (when we are picking and not choosing a birthday person's favorite) is the pink champagne! It's so fluffy, light, and so sweet and delicious. Recently, we had an adorable cake decorated for the holidays (a cute snowman) and he came out excellently, so we also have had great experiences with their decorators. For your next special occasion, party, or just a sweet treat - definitely check out The Cake Gallery!

I order from here quite a bit, and every time i do. It’s a whole ordeal to find what i’ve ordered. As for instance today, they have no idea where the cake is at. Last month i was here for 45 mins just waiting….pretty sad this place is very reputable but the service they’ve been offering isn’t what it used to be. When the owner was the one running it these issues never happened!

I don’t typically post reviews at all - let alone bad ones - but I was extremely disappointed with my experience today. There is another review that mentioned the dirty ceiling from a few months ago, and this is still absolutely the case. While I was waiting for my order, I noticed that there was dust hanging from both the ceiling vents/ducts and the ceiling fan. It’s obvious that it has been there for a long time untouched. My main issue was that I placed an order to pick up 18 marble cupcakes with orange and blue frosting (swirled together) on 12/9. I had set the “ready” time as 11 and planned on picking them up on the way to my son’s party that started at 1:30, giving them (and myself) a 2.5 hour barrier for the order to be completed prior to the party to prevent issues. My husband ran in to pick the order up at 1:15 and was told that the cupcakes were not done and that it would take another 30-40 minutes, which was completely unacceptable. He was very upset so I told him to come out and I’d go talk to them instead and they told me I would either have to wait if I wanted mixed icing like I ordered, or they could do the colors individually in less time.I told them at that point I didn’t care what icing the cupcakes had - I just needed them either immediately or I needed a refund as I could not wait around any longer for something that should’ve been ready 2.5 hours ago. It took about 10 more minutes to receive the cupcakes, so we were late to our own party.I was never told about any kind of staffing issues when I placed the order, encouraged to set an earlier pick-up time because of it, etc. and my husband and I both asked how they didn’t have any process for notifying people that their orders were going to be late. I get being short-staffed, but they still have a responsibility to keep their customers informed, especially when the nature of these orders is time-sensitive…which is why they have you set a pick-up time in the first place. It's really a shame since their cupcakes are tasty and we've been getting them for the last few years, but we won't be supporting this business any longer unless some changes are made to clean up their space and invest in a better system for taking and fulfilling orders (and communicating with customers when needed).

French Maid Faux Pas: Mitch's flouncy misadventure, frills, and all, becomes a comical moment of bakery embarrassment.A typical day at The Cake Gallery turned into an unforgettable spectacle when Mitch strolled in for cupcakes, his attire anything but typical. Dressed in a French Maid costume with frilly petticoats fluttering with each step and fishnets boldly on display, he was the embodiment of a man caught in the most delightfully embarrassing of situations. The petticoats weren't just frilly; they were a frothy sea of humiliation that Mitch waded through with a sheepish yet suspiciously sprightly demeanor. His fishnets added a dash of daring to the ensemble, drawing a mix of chuckles and cheeky winks from the amused onlookers. The staff at The Cake Gallery couldn't resist joining the fun. They played along, adding to Mitch's playful plight while ensuring he enjoyed the spotlight--a bit too much, perhaps? His bright-eyed smile and the spring in his step made us question if the costume caper was as mortifying for him as it was amusing for us. Every giggle and guffaw from customers was a testament to the joyous atmosphere Mitch's costume concoction brought to the bakery. And let's not forget the cupcakes, which were as exquisitely crafted as the layers of lace Mitch was draped in. In a world that takes itself too seriously, The Cake Gallery gave us an experience that was not only a treat for the taste buds but also a feast for the funny bone. Kudos for a day filled with ruffles, giggles, and a hint of mischief. Mitch, for all the red-faced moments, you might just have enjoyed your frills and fishnets a tad too much, and we loved every minute of it! Five stars for the sweets and the spectacle!

Maid for Laughter: Mitch's Memorable Day at The Cake Gallery! We meant to Post this a couple a months earlier when it happened.Walking into The Cake Gallery, one expects to find delicate pastries and the sweet aroma of icing, not a life-sized French maid straight out of a Parisian farce. Yet, there was Mitch, resplendent in his frilly French maid costume, complete with a lace apron, poofy skirt, and fishnet stockings, turning heads and spurring giggles among the rows of delectable treats. There was a long line and Mitch the embarrassing French maid had to wait his turn, growing redder and redder as each guest teased him and took pictures of him! From the dainty white headpiece down to the black heels, Mitch was the picture of cheeky humiliation, dusting and prancing to the delight and amusement of the staff and customers alike. The Cake Gallery became an impromptu stage for Mitch, who, armed with a feather duster, gave new meaning to 'service with a smile.'As he posed with the team, who couldn't contain their mirth, the patrons of The Cake Gallery were treated to an unexpected show. Mitch, with his beard peeking out from the frills and lace, struck a playful contrast to the elegant backdrop of wedding cakes and pastries, ensuring that this visit would be etched in memory as much for the laughs as for the sweets. This was no ordinary day. It was the day Mitch, in his delightful costume, reminded us all that life is just a little sweeter when we can laugh at ourselves and enjoy the moment, even in the most ruffled of attires. Cheers to The Cake Gallery for playing along and to Mitch for being the most charming, and Humiliating, French maid Omaha has ever seen!I hear The Cake Gallery wants him to come back again!! I hope we can make that happen! LOL
