By a huge margin, the best BBQ in Omaha, or any other place I've been. It's on the other side of Omaha from where I live, but I get there as often as I can. Well worth the trip.
Ordered Ribs and 2 meats. Ribs were amazing, and the brisket was cooked to perfection. Their cornbread tasted great as well! Glad this place was recommended to me.
We ate at Tired Texan last night. We weren't sure what to expect but we were delighted with what we were served. Each of us had some pulled pork. It was tender and not chopped up into tiny pieces. There were two sauce options - we enjoyed both, but liked the less-spicy version best because it had a more robust flavor. The cornbread was perfect - not sweet, like other places. The french fries were some of the best I've ever had - very flavorful and crisp outside and fluffy inside. The baked Mac N Cheese was divine! My husband also had some brisket, which was a tiny bit dry but was flavorful and delicious. We're iced tea snobs - and the brewed iced tea was perfect in every way. I hear that the restaurant will close in May - this is a tragedy! I hope they will be able to re-open at some future date. This food is too good to vanish from the Omaha food landscape.
Family owned. Locally a star. Dining room has a great layout to keep noise minimal for a low key meal.Food is excellent if you want a particular item call ahead! Right now they are working on getting a second smoker running, between that and shortages they run out of their brisket pretty quickly on the weekends.Haystacks, cornbread muffins, and their brisket are the must haves for me.
Excellent service and the food was great! Highly recommended!
Paid 13$ for a medium rare burger and got a well done boot. Also that 13$ is just for the burger. You have to buy sides separate so you’ll end up spending 18$ on one person and you’ll still leave hungry. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY LIKE I DID
Truly enjoyed my dining experience here I would say it's worth eating again.
This place has the best brisket. I also tried the ribs and they were very good. They have a thing called w”tumbleweed” that is very tasty. But their brisket is by far the best I’ve had.
Service has always been friendly and professional. Food is uniformly delicious.
This place hit the spot. Ribs were tender and fell off the bone. I dig the spicy bbq sauce. Creamy corn, Mac and cheese are legit. If your barbe down the street ran out, give Tired Texan a try.

As a Texas Native who relocated up here in 2021, I had read and heard a lot of great things about Tire Texan, so I had to try it. I went with 3 other Texans for lunch.I try not to compare Texas BBQ to anywhere else, everyone does it a lil different and it's not better or worse, just regionally different, which is great. But if you are gonna say you are Texan and put Texas all over your menu, then I am gonna hold you to Texas BBQ standards. We were very disappointed with everything from the over done brisket (point or fatty portion) to the ribs. The brisket was just mushy and had no flavor. The ribs were charred and tasted as such. We had the burnt ends and while they were nice and tender, there was no flavor to them either. Whatever sauce they were tossed in was better than the 2 sauces on the table. Best part of the meal was the potato appetizers, Texas Tumbleweeds, got us excited that everything else would be equal to or better... sadly, it just fell off the side of a cliff after that. And for the record, Pulled Pork is not a thing in Texas, we do Beef. Nothing wrong with Pulled Pork, but it is not Texas BBQ.I highly recommend Smokin Barrel BBQ, he has it down and knows what he is doing.
Always have enjoyed great bbq, this is exactly that great food run by great people. Got just about the whole menu, brisket, ribs, pulled pork. Everything was great the ribs were a standout close to fall off the bone but with a nice chew still. Brisket, wow great brisket done very well with a nice bark went great with the fries.
An excellent service I loved the hamburger that was served to me and everything else the pleasant atmosphere and very good attention.Probably the best burger I've ever had.
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet and I love BBQ (been all over the country sampling it). This reminds me of being down south like towards Memphis kinda smokehouse place. Sauce is ALWAYS on the side dry rub it all and when you walk in, check the meat counter to see what's still left. If you aren't aware, that's what true smoke houses do. They make just enough and when it's gone, it's gone. Get the ribs or the brisket. It's really brisket, not some Midwestern idea that always comes out like potroast. This place and another smokehouse (think a swines gluteus maximus) are my Omaha area go to places for good BBQ.
This was the best place we ate while in Omaha! The ribs were tender and delicious. The tumbleweeds melted in your mouth. The poppyseed coleslaw, hand cut fries, and corn muffin tops were all cooked perfectly. We came for the black eyed peas because we saw they had them on New Years but fell in love with everything we had. Service was quick. Will definitely be back when we travel to Omaha again!
