Recommended by locals. Busy, but we had good service and good food. Cool atmosphere.

While I won't say chicken fried bacon is a healthy choice it sure was the tastiest appetizer I've had.
Also had the jalapeno margarita that was great but only if you have a bartender that can make them so I did post his pic with his permission so when you see him get the margarita.

Giving 5 stars as there's is nothing really to complain about. The couple we were with enjoyed it more than I, but it was still good. The food portions were massive. My wife and I split the meatloaf and had food ledt over. The bourbon portions were very small for the price. 1oz pours are hardly worth it. Had 1 drink then ate and left. Our friends went back there for another meal.

Service was wonderful. Food was ok. The place is extremely dirty and dusty. The curtains are caked with dust. The mirrors next to the booths are covered in cobwebs. The walls have food smudges everywhere. The mirrors behind the bar look to have years of smudging up top. Even when you are walking in the entry table up against the glass is covered in dust. Honestly the front of house is so grimy I had a hard time eating my meal thinking of what the back of house where our food is made looks like. Years ago when we lived down town this was my favorite takeout spot. I loved it. Whom ever is running this should address the cleanliness because it is flat out gross. No one wants dust mites with their meal.

Been five years since being here but the place still is five star after all these years ! Was looking for a good meatloaf, .. Not Here,
stay away from this place.
It was terrible …
cat food pate’.
Mashed potatoes over whipped,
gravy congeal gelatinous
Sorry, not just bad, Real Bad !

We are big fans of Stokes, taxis, Stoke, and goat
Excellent restaurants, excellent food, same family as I understand so this one needs some attention

Unimpressed with the food given the reviews. Waited 30 minutes, so was hopeful it was a good spot. The margarita was so syrupy sweet I had to return it. You could tell just by looking at it. The "famous" fried chicken salad was terrible...I ate less than half of it. The breading was crispy but flavorless. The bowl was so small I couldn't mix the salad itself because the chicken took up the entire top. The bartender was friendly and attentive, so at least the service was good.

We had never ate here before we were visiting town. I was craving mashed potatoes found this as an option so we decided to check it out. The place was pretty busy. We were sat at the bar. There were no tables, but the bar was only one person. It was pretty dirty. They did wipe it off, but it still remained pretty sticky. We ordered food. It did take quite a while, but like I said, they were busy the bad thing though, even though we waited for a while, my food was cold. I wasn’t impressed by the mashed potatoes, which was sad because that’s why we went. They had no flavor. The Mocktail I had was really good. The bartender was very nice. Overall not a bad experience. The food was OK.

The pork chop was not as good as advertised. It was burnt and covered with gravy as a disguise.

We had lunch here a couple of months ago while exploring Old Market and had a delightful time. The food was great (my photo doesn't do the fried pickles justice). I had the Lunch Meatloaf and my wife had the French Dip with sweet potato fries. All delicious!

Unfortunately they really missed the mark the past Thursday. What was a surprise was waiting over an hour for our food and the restaurant wasn’t busy. I ordered the grilled cheese and sweet potato fries and to my surprise they both came battered and deep fried. Battered sweet potato fries are not good to say the least and the menu does not state they are battered before fried. The grilled cheese being deep fried was basically destroyed. I’m not sure why that’s not explained on the menu either. Hopefully this was a one off but I won’t be back to find out.
