Our group of 5 arrived early for our reservation and we seated immediately. Our server was very new to the serving team, so we cut him some slack for the occasional oversight. I had the jambalaya which was delicious, my kiddo had the grown up mac and cheese which he enjoyed, but felt there were too many green onions. Whenever I go, I have to get a cup of the beer and gouda soup as it is my all time favorite. The rest of our party enjoyed their meals as well. Overall a great dining experience downtown.
I have been coming to upstream for years, and this may very well be the worst experience I've ever had there. We ordered the cheese curds ($12) and received a plate with about as many curds as the plate cost, which honestly tasted the same as a side order you could get at Freddy's. I ordered the Mac and Cheese, which I and my partner have had several times over the last few years, and it was the blandest thing I've ever tasted: so watered down that I couldn't even taste the cheese. It was almost a shock to the blackened chicken on the dish that was over-salted in comparison. My partner's burger on the other hand tasted like smoke and was drier than a tumbleweed, and the cheese was not even properly melted on it, just sitting there, square as a sponge. The saving grace for this meal was the Gouda Beer Cheese Soup, which was amazing as always. I'm not sure if there have been changes to management or back of house practices, but it was a lackluster meal at what is usually a fantastic restaurant. Nearly $100 on a $10 experience. To top it off, we were seated right in the middle of an isle next to the elevator and back of house area at one of the most uncomfortable wooden tables and matching uncomfortable hard uncushioned seats. It was so busy with staff and cluttered that we couldn't even hear each other. Our server I believe only came by to bring our waters, appetizer and soup, and to bring our box and check. It was a busy night, but we didn't even get asked if we wanted condiments by the other server who brought us our food. It was my partner's birthday, and he was so disappointed by the quality of the food that he never wants to go back, despite it being his favorite restaurant in Omaha that he's gone to many times over the last six years that he's lived here.
Great food. Conveniently located. Service was phenomenal. Loved the style of the restaurant. Loved that they made their own stuff. Highly recommend.
Good visit to upstream! The girl checking our party in at the front wasn't the most welcoming individual, but our server was *outstanding* and more than made up for the lackluster start to our evening. We had a party of 8 and everyone loved their food. The pizza wasn't my favorite, but that was my fault for not asking about the crust (very very very thin). Get the cheese curds! Fabulous! And the hummus plate was delish. Others in our party had the fish & chips and wings—all rave reviews! Watched a CWS game while there—great atmosphere for viewing sports!
For our wedding reception, we wanted the feel of the Old Market AND affordable, great food. Maria and the team at The Upstream DELIVERED. We are still getting compliments from our reception guests about the food and the space, and Morgan, Taylor, and Monte were absolutely outstanding to work with. It was a perfect evening!
Our company used Upstream for catering an event we held down the street. I worked with Maria during the whole planning process and she was amazing! She was quick to respond and provided all the details from the beginning.
Our members loved the food that Upstream provided. There were a lot of different options from appetizers, main courses and desserts.
I highly recommend Upstream for any event whether it's onsite with them or using them for your catering needs.
Thanks for the flexibility for letting us expand our reservation to 15 people. Athena handled us with grace. Food was great. Drinks were cold and refreshing. Thanks much!
Cool environment, good beer selection and drinks. Old firehouse definitely worth stopping in. Standard pub style food with vegan options. They make their own bread, which is unique.
The burgers are nothing great. We sat outside, where there are plenty of bugs smaller than the black specks in the ranch, which was quite excellent actually. The bugs bite. This grew especially tiresome while we waited 10 minutes in the wind after paying to get our cards back. This was my first time in the Omaha Old Market, but I’m sure there’s better food around.
My husband and I stopped in last night for a casual bite after a long day of shopping and sightseeing in the area. We had visited this place before and sat in the bar and had a lovely time. This visit they asked if we had a reservation. No, we did not know one was recommended. From that moment on, I felt rushed, and uncomfortable. A man in an orange shirt, who I believe is a member of leadership, stared at me multiple times for what was an uncomfortable period of time. So much so, that I considered asking him if there was something of concern. He left the area and we did not see him again. I ordered a pub burger, that was supposed to have onion straws, havarti cheese, and bacon jam. The bacon jam made the burger bun so mushy I had to eat it with a fork, and removed the top bun,
no onion straws, and the burger undercooked. I was not asked how I like my burger cooked. Their sweet potato fries are excellent though. Overall, with all of the dining options in that small area, I will not return.

Wonderful location, clean and friendly. If you go do not skip the Gouda and ale soup, it is incredible! This is always a favorite and we will be back.
Beer was fabulous! Wait staff was amazing! The food was horrible! I had a filet mignon 6 oz. Now the steak was cooked the perfect MR but it had zero flavor. The mash potatoes tasted like they were old and zero flavor. The green beans were also subpar. Kids pizzas look like they came from a box. Streamed kids carrots were mushy. The kids did enjoy the rootbeer floats.
Very nice, pleasant place to have a good beer. Service was great.
Terrific beer. Food was maybe a little on the expensive side but very tasty (great mashed potatoes). Our server was very nice and friendly and our eight-year-old was very happy.
We are staying in council Bluffs for the weekend and had an exhausting day. So, we decided to door dash some food. We were craving a good burger. We are so happy we picked Upstream! THE BEST burger we have had in a very long time.
