Very good food in a cozy setting. My wife had the boneless quail and it was great. The bread service was also outstanding. Service could have been better - it took over an hour for our entrees with no communication from the staff. The two tables next to us appeared to be regulars and they were served several courses while we sat there starving. They also got lots of attention from the sommelier, who did not stop by our table at all, even after I inquired about the wine. Hopefully an off night but it was a bummer.

There truly aren’t enough words to capture the phenomenal dining experience my team and I — a group of more than 20 professionals — had at this remarkable establishment! From start to finish, every detail reflected an extraordinary level of care, passion, and hospitality.

The food was nothing short of exquisite — each dish thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Every plate told a story of culinary expertise and dedication. The wine and cocktail pairings were spot-on, perfectly complementing the flavors and enhancing the overall dining experience.

The service was equally impressive. Despite the size of our group, the staff never missed a beat. They were attentive without being intrusive, warm without being overbearing, and professional while still creating an atmosphere that felt comfortable and personal.

The ambiance completed the experience — elegant yet inviting, refined yet relaxed. It’s clear that the team here takes pride not only in what they serve but also in how they make guests feel.

A special thank-you to the bartenders, wait staff, and sommelier, whose expertise elevated the evening, and to the kitchen team, whose creativity and skill made the magic happen behind the scenes.

Simply put: you haven’t truly experienced Omaha until you’ve dined here. I’m already looking forward to returning later this week during my conference — and this restaurant is now officially marked as a Favorite on my Google Maps. Without a doubt, this will be a regular stop every time I’m in town!

The kitchen of V. Mertz celebrates life through creative exploration of food. Each dish we had was simultaneously unique and a variation on a theme. The tasting menu offered incredibly complex flavor destinations on an expertly booked journey. The savory bread roll, risotto, and lamb were especially delicious and the sous chef's experimental sweet potato pie foie gras paired with a bold Sauternes wine was like walking through a portal into fall nostalgia. Every member of the staff contributed to a perfect evening but Drew happened to be our guide through the dinner of the year.

This has become the official special occasion restaurant for my group of girlfriends and me. We’ve done both the tasting menu and ordered off the regular menu, and both are great options. The servers are extremely knowledgeable about the menu. If you have dietary restrictions, this is the place to go, because they will point out exactly what you can or cannot have. If you dislike certain ingredients, you’ll like the way they are prepared here. Do be warned that this is not a quick meal. From seating, you’ll be there for around 2.5-3 hours, so embrace the fine dining experience!

Unfortunately this was a terrible experience for us. We went to the restaurant the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. We were seated next to the wine rack next to a table where they had random books and extra silverware which made the ambiance terrible.
We tried the tasting menu which repeated items and it took us a literal 3-hours to finish our meal.
Our server promised us perks to compensate our wait time, we got nothing.
I guess it may be a good restaurant to get a good steak, but not the high end dining experience we were hoping to get.
Oh did I forget the free-pouring cocktails? Unfortunately I wasn't alone when I didn't finish my drink, I saw the woman across from me fell the same way.. overall a very disappointing experience.

By far the best dining in Omaha, and has been consistently for years. The closest you’ll find in town to big city food and service.

The tasting menu showed real creativity—the duck breast was tender with layered flavors, and the dessert course carried just the right balance of sweet and light. Service was attentive and refined, and the candlelit cellar setting made the night feel special.

One of, if not my favorite restaurants in Omaha. It is on the expensive side, but I promise it's worth it. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic service, and of course incredible food!

My husband and I made reservations here for our anniversary. (which my husband mentioned in the reservation). The ambiance is beautiful! However, our reservation was at 7, and we were not served our food until almost 8:30 pm. Another party of 6 was seated after us, served, and left before we even received our food. I'm not sure why it took so long. We ordered an appetizer, a bread loaf, which took at least 20 minutes to receive. We did order one large menu item, the $95 steak, and asked to split it. But we were not trying to be cheap. I am a bariatric patient, and I can't eat much. Plus, we had also ordered 2 alcoholic drinks each while we were waiting. Based on how long we had to wait, and the poor service from our server, and the fact that our anniversary wasn't acknowledged- sadly, we won't be back.

I had dinner here almost 2 years ago. I have traveled the world since. Nothing compares to this place. The food is immaculate.

The duck breast was tender with crisp skin, paired with seasonal vegetables that lifted the dish without clutter. Service carried a calm precision, and the intimate cellar setting gave the night a refined, almost hidden charm.

Absolutely amazing. In a really cool restored building which made the setting special.

We had three different steaks and duck. All were as good if not better than what we can get in Minneapolis.

Really wish it was in Minneapolis instead! We were floored.

I honestly don’t understand the hype surrounding this place after my experience last night. First, it took a full 30 minutes just to receive a simple bread appetizer. I couldn’t help but notice that tables with alcohol orders seemed to get much quicker service, which made it feel like certain guests were being prioritized.

When I asked a simple question about whether our food had even been started yet, I was met with unnecessary attitude. The main coarse that had “7 minutes left” took 20 minutes for very subpar food. It felt like no one was really paying attention to us for most of the evening, which only added to our frustration.

To top it off, the food didn’t live up to it’s expectations. It was overpriced and below average quality and honestly, I would rather have ate at Chick-fil-A for a Birthday dinner, where the service and quality of food would have been better. Given how many glowing reviews this place has, I was shocked by how underwhelming the experience was.
