My teen daughter & I were in SC for a basketball tournament so I searched for top restaurants and LJ popped up. The Mexican lovers we are…indulged. Reviewers warned of waiting line, so we went expecting a much longer wait (was about 20 mins; line was to the back door). If you go, be prepared in advance that they accept CASH ONLY (they do have an ATM near the counter). This is a fun little place off the beaten path…nothing fancy but the food is authentic, freshly made (you can watch prep/cooking behind the counter!), and price is right. Cost was $10 for an enchilada platter, $10 for quesadilla platter, etc. They have Jarritos bottles of Mexican soda in various flavors for sale as well as Coca-Cola sodas, Snapples, Powerades, etc. Other reviewers spoke of this being a potentially unsafe neighborhood. We went at 7:30p, so it was still during sunlight, but we (two small white females) didn’t feel unsafe. There is beautiful cultural diversity in this setting, as observed by the multiple cultural backgrounds who came and went as we were there. The line stayed long while we were there…always a good sign. I’d recommend you get in line if you get the chance to support this hard-working family business. :)

On recommendation from students at Morningside University, we visited the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The food was really good, and the rice milk was delicious. Definitely will be back for more.

Affordable and delicious. Limes and chili (hot sauce) to go with order for free if requested; jalapeños and carrots are a standard side. Would like to see a combo order that includes drink in the future, like 3 tacos and drink for $5 as an example. Colder drinks during summer wouldn't hurt either, but the food is what matters.Edit from 5 stars to 1. Making up prices for me recently. Can of soda is up to a dollar today 7/6/2018. Couple weeks ago main lady threw my quarters in their tip jar, but that's supposed to be my decision.. Gonna have to stop being a customer for moral reasons.
