I don’t normally write reviews but felt this place could definitely use some criticism since the manager on duty didn’t care to hear it in person, instead had the waitress offer free dessert as a bandaid for not enjoying nor eating hardly any of our meals.
We ordered 2 crocks of vegetarian chili and a crock of French onion soup to start. The vegetarian chili was canned tomato sauce based with no chili seasoning whatsoever, few black beans, and pretty much nothing else in it other than a few onions. The onions were not caramelized in the French onion soup and there was no broth, just a lightly onion flavored water base with melted cheese over the top. Honestly the worst soups we’ve ever had, could not choke either of them down - canned soup would've tasted gourmet over these. Next we ordered a basic chicken quesadilla with onion rings and a fried chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were stale, hard, and lukewarm, definitely not fresh. The chicken had equally as much soppy fried breading as it did chicken. The 1.5 pieces of chicken quesadillas I managed to choke down had almost no cheese. How an establishment can mess up a quesadilla and a chicken sandwich is beyond me. The one thing that was decent, and clearly not battered in house, was the onion rings. My boyfriend has been sick to his stomach for hours since eating here - which is the only place we’ve eaten today. We’ve eaten here in years past and it was decent enough we wouldn’t spend the time to write a terrible review, but I’ve never experienced a meal both my boyfriend and I could not choke down. The waitress also didn’t check on us after our food was delivered until long enough that she walked in the room saying “how is everything, or how was everything I should say?”. Overall will never eat here again to waste $65 leaving hungry and sick.

The Sumner House provided catering for our local wedding and did an amazing job! Food tasting was done at the restaurant, staff were very welcoming, and the catering was delicious. People raved about the moist chicken (so hard to do with buffet), steak tips, Mac&cheese pulled pork, and apple crisp. Staff were very responsive and flexible with food allergies/requests. Cannot wait to go back for more!

We've been a few times over the years. It's been hit or miss. The nachos were good but had the chicken been pulled or grilled the flavor would have been far better in my opinion. I had the meatball's and found them too dry to finish.
